I get that and tbh I would like to have seen the same but I'm guessing there wanting him to come in, assess the squad and try get the new manager motivation/push that other teams seem to get. Clean slate, 5 training days to impress and everyone is in the mix for Saturday. I don't see mass changes as we haven't enough quality in the squad.

The only problem I have with a short deal in our position is what exactly can it be dependent on? As you say most new managers get a bit of a push from the team to start with but we're far off staying up at the moment. What level of improvement can be judged a success?
I guess if he comes in and loses every game it gives us a get out clause, which is understandable given the deficit, but surely that just indicates he's not being backed to make a long term improvement

Could be based on points, home/away wins, squad improvement, better football/style of play, fan belief/support - any of them plus at the end of the season a review in his time here about who, if he was given the job permanently, would he keep/get rid off and what would he need to get us promoted if we'd gone down or get us into the top 10 if we'd stayed up.

It's quite simple and suites both parties. The absolute immediate remit is to stay in the division and GB will incentivised on that basis. If we go down with a wimper, the deal allows flexibility on both parts to decide on whats best going forward. If we go down fighting, we can offer him an extended deal centred promotion incentives, win bonuses etc. The situation now is totally different to what it will be in the summer.

Goes without saying that if he keeps us up, give him a new deal and the keys to the city.

There's lots of points there which make sense but unless we do have a real resurgence (which I'm hoping for) I'm not sure how tangible most of them will be - if we carry on losing chances are the style of play won't be great either. Either way I'm sure we both agree that it would be great if we do start a good streak til the end of the season

Essentially what I proposed earlier. Great to know I'm not alone.

I'm not predicting a fall because of Bowyer or in spite of Bowyer, but because I've seen nothing, apart from the streak in December, to say that this group of players even care about staying up! I'm very happy with Bowyer being appointed and think that he is the right man for the job but will this particular group of players care enough to deliver?

Appreciate that but surely what most clubs do in this situation is to have a clause in the deal that allows us to determine terms based on division etc?
Having said that I note from re-reading the statement that there isn't anything to say this isn't the case so apologies if I'm wrong.
What happens if Bowyer plans for next season, we go down, he leaves and we're left again with our dick in our hands looking for a new manager and starting again?

    OK !

But FIRST ........ Bowyer has not even been measured for a trakkie top yet, OK ?
WE (as fans) have therefore seen feckall to suggest he'll keep us up, or take us down.

Christs sake ............. Some screamed for Hopkins sacking .....
Others screamed at the list of candidates ......
And NOW some are screeching at what (they think) he can't do - NOT what he can.

Give the bloke some time ........ FFS !! :(

Ronnie Id be ecstatic if he manages to keep us up, but we’re 6 points from safety with 11 games to play. This group of players didn’t perform under Hopkin, didn’t perform under Collins and as much as I hope they perform under Bowyer, that still might not be enough to save us from relegation

If I was a player been slagged of in the local rag by DH I wouldn't want to play for him. Let's face it DH probably had no respect from the players towards the end after his tactics caused quite a few losses and he went and blamed the team for it. I think GB will be better at man management and will hopefully get the best out of the players.

Im expecting 11 wins from 11. Anything less that is a failure. :p Hindsight is a wonderful thing but a couple of centre backs instead of Butterfield would have been ideal in the transfer window.

You may be right but until Bowyer is given the chance you are being defeatist!

These players DID perform in Dec.We scored loads and didn't concede.
If they did it once, they can do it again! Try to be less pessimistic, hope is
    always a positive thing.

You know what? Maybe a slightly less impressive December would have been better in a weird way. Would have led to a different transfer window

To be fair any tactics appear to go out of the window due to too many individual errors and the inability of our players to pick up players prevent crosses and then defend it. We go behind and the players go hiding - the chances we create we squander. My biggest moan would be that we have a large squad but have not got individuals who can help change tactics that we are able to put in place for an option b to try and break down other teams.
