Absolutely not. The furlough scheme was a job retention scheme aimed at companies who would potentially have to make employees redundant without financial help. How can a club that has paid transfer fees morally justify using govt funds to pay employees over the summer.
Every penny the govt saves on not paying furlough to companies that just don't need it but treat it as a bonus, is money that can be given yo nurses

Morally no. But since when has football ever been about morals?
Even the PL clubs furloughed some matchday staff last year, that's how low the billionaires in the sport will sink.Bronco, Stoneski and Faithful Bantam like this. -
I think it is a disgrace if Bradford City did this.

Looking at this again. £350 million a week x 52 = £18,200 million. There are almost 1.5 million people, including nurses, midwives and health assistants, working for the NHS across the UK.
So £18,200 million divided by 1.5 million = a flat rate potential of £12,133 or each employee!
Remember that the Government allocated £22,000,000,000 for Trace and Track for companies including Serco! On a smaller scale, they secured a £50 million contract for ‘useless’ PPE!
So paying health care workers (I go further than limiting it to nurses, which doesn’t recognise the complexities of supporting patients) or even football clubs to Furlough staff, should be well within the ‘whit’ of this Government!

we have a weeks shut down for easter at work, should all the staff be furloughed to save the company money, no way and who picks up the tab, the tax payers of this country.Bronco and Bantam Boy like this. -
As long as they are not doing anything illegal and follow the rules I don’t have an issue with it. It would be like not using a tax rebate scheme that was on offertrevor and Faithful Bantam like this. -

According to the NHS own website then the NHS, has 1,169,045 FTE in July 2020. This is 6.4% (69,901) more than in July 2019. Given that a number work part time I assume the figure equates to the 1,319,932 Headcount in July 2020. https://digital.nhs.uk/data-and-information/publications/statistical/nhs-workforce-statistics/july-2020
So going back to the bus and the figures which helped some people of £350000000 then it is the equivalent of about 3 days money to the EU. Following Brexit, then surely this Government could recognise and reward NHS staff.
Here it is again!
I guess that if the system allows organisations to ‘Furlough’ staff, and if is within the rules, then it really doesn’t matter what we think of the ethics. The EFL and the FA are the governing bodies, they could also express a view. If one club does it, then others could well follow.Faithful Bantam and Stoneski like this. -

The economy is several billion in the hole. Lower league football clubs using this scheme won't make a jot of difference to what nurses get paid. And what if fans aren't allowed back, in full next season? Palatable or not, I think we need to look at every mechanism available to us to safeguard the financial security of the clubStop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... What's the total cost of that? One off payment of ~£1.5bn in total? Is my maths right? Even ignoring the bus which was both a disingenuous claim and also already been spent many times over that's still a chunky sum though.
You can be damn sure that if they offered a grand bonus the unions and Kier would say it wasn't enough anyway.Storck likes this.
