I can't understand why the club can't link up with the police and have a joint live blog on the situation.

As fans of the club, and taxpayers who fund the police, we deserve better.

    Garbage

Unless a case involves national security issues , where such items are discussed “in camera” EVERY SINGLE COURT CASE IN THE LAND has a transcript available to be read by interested parties. How on earth do you think “appeals” are held without such information?

The ones to trust are the judiciary, the ones NOT to trust are politicians of whatever ilk or people giving wrong information

Read the whole thread forum start P. There are plenty of explanations of how the employer/ employee disciplinary process works.

    HYPOTHETICALLY
an employee accuses a work colleague of serious misdemeanour. Do you think any employer with half a brain would permit the two to continue working together.

I have moved people to a different dept pending investigation for minor conflict/ allegations
If it’s serious and may warrant dismissal, then it’s suspension unequivocally. Harsh some may think but it’s done for a reason.

I think that going public with names etc in these types of (alleged) cases isn't doing anyone any good.

I know that its meant to be some kind of deterrent but why not do that in all cases then?

Not condoning any actions like this alleged case whatsoever but mud does stick.

Look at that lad earlier this year who had his case dropped after they found the alleged victims phone contained 10,000 messages back and forth between her and him. He can't get his name or story removed from google and that will likely detrimentally affect aspects of his future life. That does not seem right IMHO.

If someone is found guilty then its right the public should know.

They do do it in all cases when people are charged.

One of the reasons of naming people is it can bring out new witnesses and also new victims.

It is not a case, it is an investigation! Charges have to be brought to Court before an investigation becomes a court case. The court will then allocate a Case number as there would be formal proceedings. Nothing has occurred at this juncture, to say that this investigation will progress in that manner. I assume that investigations are continuing and that when they have concluded a decision will be made.

Could I suggest that people refer to this guidance. https://www.cps.gov.uk/publication/decision-whether-prosecute

Furthermore the CPS apply this test, ‘Prosecutors must be satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction against each suspect on each charge. They must consider what the defence case may be, and how it is likely to affect the prospects of conviction. A case which does not pass the evidential stage must not proceed, no matter how serious or sensitive it may be’.
    https://www.cps.gov.uk/publication/full-code-test

I think for all concerned, this should now end, until there is further formal clarification about this ‘situaation’. Speculation and people airing their views about the process is not adding anything to the known facts.

Don't disagree with anything you have said there. My point was in the releasing of the (alleged) suspects name in ANY investigation before they have been formally charged or not. Doesn't sit well with me that's all I am saying in general and not specific to this investigation.

So how did the MTM get the name then? Just genuinely curious.

Because he was arrested where other people could see/hear. A place where there were a lot of journalists at the time, plus TV crews etc. There was no way in gods green earth that it was going to be kept quiet.

    Plus what is MTM?

All very well but he hasn’t been charged. It’s wrong and mistakes like that nearly ruined cliff Richard and Paul gambuccini.

It’s ok to name people when charged, because to get there the case had passed cps evidence thresholds but it’s totally wrong to name anyone, especially on a “fishing trip” when they haven’t and might never be charged.

And that is something you would have to take up with the press. The police and/or the CPS haven't named him

Totally agree. Innocent until (or is it unless) proven guilty should also include anonymity until charged. Without that innocent will never get pat the no smoke without fire tittle tatters

There has been no official announcement that he has been arrested for anything. You are deciding to believe what the Mail and T&A have said. It is currently rumour and that is all.

Look these type of allegations are always sensitive and take time to establish what facts are available. No charges have been made and we are a week further on. Lots of these type of cases never proceed to charges as there is not enough facts or evidence for the CPS to proceed.
