    we have a right to discuss stories in the news related to Bradford city. You can’t close every thread just in case someone makes an inappropriate comment.

    He may be innocent, many in this position are, but you can’t suppress discussion on it

    Its a fair comment. Someone else asked me why I had locked both of the threads. This was my response to them:

    It wasn't me who locked the first thread, but I fully agree with the decision to do so, as it was encouraging inappropriate comments, which had to be deleted.

    I locked the latest thread because I could see it going the same way.

    I don't want to to stifle debate or comment, but experience tells me that the alternative is likely to see a number of posters ending up with bans and I don't want to see that, if at all possible.

    I am happy to see links to newspaper articles posted on the matter but, if threads start to show any signs of straying into inappropriate areas, then I will lock those threads.

    You have every right to free speech. Just like the owners of the site have every right to allow discussions on whatever topics they are happy with. No one is stopping you talking about what ever you want, you just have been stopped from discussing it on here.

    Now the story is out I think it should be left to run its course, it will probably take quite a while but I agree we should leave it alone until it has been through the courts, shame, talented player for sure but this kind of thing has eaten up many before him....

    The only thing I will comment on this matter, as conjecture is rife at the moment, is **If** true, my deepest sympathy goes to the person/victim involved.

    This appears to be an accusation at this stage and not a charge. Remember Cliff Richards. There should be no speculation about an accusation until and unless a charge is made.

    How many debates have we had on Ched Evans and they weren't locked down. This is more related to our club and as long as it doesn't start saying he's guilty and mentioning the person or persons other than Robinson then we should be able to talk about it. I really hope it turns out to be nothing more than what's happened to other players and he's exonerated from the charges.

    As @StaffordBantam@StaffordBantam has said, the purpose of locking the two threads relating to Robinson's alleged sexual assault case had nothing to do with curtailing anybody's right to free speech but everything to do with sticking to the known facts

    In both cases, the two threads had moved beyond free speech and the known facts and were starting to link the allegations with some specific comments on the nature of the allegations or parallels were being drawn with other unconnected cases. None of the comments made or inferences drawn have been referred to in any mainstream media coverage of Robinson's alleged assault and are therefore at this stage without foundation. To be blunt, they were irresponsible conjecture on the part of some people and were little more than tittle tattle. That sort of unfounded speculation helps nobody.

    People accused of offences are entitled to continue to be treated as innocent unless and until they are first charged with and then convicted of the offence.

    And this is a major failure of our legal system. People arrested for anything, whatever crime, shouldn’t be named unless they are formally charged.

    The original leak, which is what must have lead to the suspension, came through the usual “friend of a friend of my uncle/ auntie who knows a fellah who knows a copper” and that’s wrong as well.

    We now are aware of why he has been suspended by the club and why he has been arrested by the police, In my opinion all threads relating to the matter should be locked or deleted until he is either cleared or convicted of any offence, Nothing said by any poster can now be of value until this has run its course in fairness to all parties, Anything now would be pure speculation,

    If you want to talk shite, go do it on a street corner, you’re free to do that, as long as you’re not inciting violence or hatred...Failing that, set up your own platform, and take your own chances...Free speech, my arse.

    People need to understand what freedom of speech means. What it does not mean is you are free to say whatever you want. The hosts of the website could get in trouble for allowing some of the things which may be said. I like this site, so go and talk about it on Facebook or Twitter. They allow that type of stuff.
