It says once the flag reaches the middle of the stand the cards will be held aloft to create the stripes as the players come out.

Why pass the flag at all? Bound to go wrong as half wont have a clue whats happening

The flag has to go from the NWC to the middle of the kop and stop there just in time as the players are entering the pitch and then when the players come out the cards go up.
It will look good if it goes right but it will need some serious timing.borderlescott and Kevin1954 like this. -

Dave - that bottom picture looks a lot older than 83 vintage. The state of the concrete on the Kop looks early 60’s.

Deffo in the mid 60's now i think about it as i was only a little sprog at that time.

I remember that well. The away fans often threw pieces of concrete over the dividing fence and on to us. Even worse was when they threw the City pies! I also remember turning up for the game and both sides of our Kop was virtually full of Wednesday fans. Felt like an away game. Late 70’s.
