Can definitely see him slotting in alongside Reece Staunton at Arsenal.

Even if he'd not have slipped though why did we have 5 players breaking on 1 (2 if FCD maintained his footing)?

We have two "defensive minded" midfielders all game which sees us struggle to create offensively but a single long ball can cut them both out and leave us wide open once our centre halves have progressed for a set piece?

I have to ask, why the f**k are we playing them both for then?

    That's not true.

We haven't struggled to produced young players. We have just sold them off before you even got to know about them.

This contract is deserved. He has got into the 1st team squad and already over taken French.

    Good move signing him up.

Yet Threlkeld gets in front of him for us. What a joke, maybe after yesterday’s embarrassing display he will change his mind.

Adams signed the likes of Threlkeld and Songo'o. He isn't going to admit his mistakes.

Yes. The way Foulds adapted to the right hand side yesterday, I'd also give him a whirl to see if he could settle into the right back position. It's noticeable how Adams persists with some serial non performers, yet doesn't show the same patience with others.

I'd like him to play but Adams is allergic to the kids. They only play when "a proper first teamer" is injured. Old school manager, stuck in his ways unfortunately.

The lad is a red card waiting to happen. His 'strong' challenge yesterday would have seen him sent off by most refs. You just cannot challenge like that anymore.

He does have potential, but not ready for a regular right back spot in my opinion.

We have struggled for a good consistent right back since the days of Darby and McMahon

I know Derek Adams is a very thorough with his assessment of the opposition but I'd prefer him to use a formation that can win us games (especially at home) rather than stopping the opposition playing, maybe he will when we have Cook, Angol, Lavery, Robinson all available.

We were ineffective yesterday but our formation normally works - we create chances do we not? If it was last season then fair enough, a change can be justifed.

northampton have the best defence in the league statistically and were just tough to break down but there’s no need to change a set up that’s generally worked.

we need more conviction in front of goal but changing formation doesn’t change that.

at best, we need injured players back. At worst, we need to sign more quality.

No chance. Out of contract in the summer and won't be offered a new deal.

If we offer him a new deal on at least the same terms as his current contract then we'd get some compensation as he's under 24 but doubt that compensation will be a lot and not many clubs at that level would be prepared to pay much compensation. Best case scenario is probably that we request a very minimal fee with a sell on clause then it's low risk to both clubs.
I can't see him being offered a new deal as he'll be 22 in the summer and there's a big gap between National League North and League 2. Also if were to keep him then it takes up a squad space and I'm not sure he's up to the level we need for a player taking up a squad space. If I was him even the only way I'd sign a new deal would be if I was told I had a good chance of starting, anything else and I don't think it's in his interest to stay. At his age he needs to be playing games like he is now and use them to get himself in the shop window as a player who has played game and proven is much more attractive to clubs than someone who hasn't played.

Not all from the academy but over a 20 year period we've either produced or (picked up for nothing and) developed George Green, Andre Wisdom, Fabian Delph, Oli McBurney, Tom Cleverley, Andy O'Brien, Simon Francis, Nahki Wells and probably a couple I've missed but all netted us an average of £1,000,000 each with add ons. If we produce £500,000 a year we aren't doing too badly.

He played well yesterday and seems to be improving, he played a couple of good though balls and his positioning and defending looks more assured. Have to remember he is only 18, what was McBurnie like at 18!

    Can't agree
Many youngsters careers have come to a halt at "big club's"
Better to get game time at a lesser club improve and work the way up
They stand more of a chance this way
Hardly any make the grade who sign first for one of the big club's
    Short term glory (at signing)
    Long term very short career
Regardless of the kudos parents crave
