It's not a silly comparison at all. The government claim to follow the science.

Look, some people are going to be upset but if clubs don't put forward idea's to get fans back then it could be years before fans attend games again.

Stop being so selfish. If I had to miss out because I wasn't local then fine! I accept it and pleased for those that can go then hope all goes well then I will be allowed.

So it's not a silly comparison to say the majority of people using gyms are the younger end, and most Darby & Joan clubs are frequented by older people, really !!!.

Why am I being selfish I'm not the poster saying fans in attendance have conditions attached to attending ames you are, once restrictions are eased I believe all fans young & old will be welcomed back, you seem to be the only poster who holds that view, a total nonsense.

Appreciate this is all speculation at the moment but I'd feel a bit aggrieved to miss out on attending games based on an arbitrary 'local only' rule.

I live about 8 miles from valley parade, but it's Leeds postcode and area (Rawdon).

I'm pretty much writing off the season, just can't see us getting back. I can't believe there's no way to get people back in with some limits and measures in place.

I'm watching ifollow but it's not the same. This just can't go on, the medicine is worse than the disease

With the amount of rain we are having you might just have a land slip into a BD postcode. Not far to Woodlands Road. ;)

I wouldn’t worry. The club couldn’t even do their social bubbles of right, didn’t they say no more than two households together?

There's a Petition to sign for a return to football grounds here. As of writing is at 26,110. Which is already past the government response stage. At 100,000 it will be debated in parliament.

    https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/552036

And I know some on here will bleat on about how it won't make a difference, I'd rather try and get us all into the ground instead of being sat on my hands!

    The state of football today.

The lower leagues haven't a pot to piss in and are going to go to the wall if they can't allow a tiny about of there capacity in the ground to generate a little bit of income.

Whilst Arsenal get rid of their mascot to cut costs, along with the 55 staff they made redundant only to go and spend £45m on a player later in the same day. The Premier League won't help out the pyramid as they are only interest in themselves. Those who came from the EFL and have their interest at heart will just be outvoted by the status quo.

The problem is that the cinema and live music industry can't survive without people attending so they're pushing the boundaries for those as hard as they dare and even then they're being more cautious than people would like.

Football just spent one and a quarter billion pounds over the past couple of months. The industry CAN survive without fans, it's just whether they can organise themselves to make sure that's the whole structure or a chosen few who can get through it.

I play indoor racket sports. You are not allowed to play doubles at the moment.

Yet they have a variety of ‘classes’ and you can see that the floor mats are not 2 metres apart. They have ‘line dancing’ and at the end they mill around together in spaces which are not 2 metres apart.

I also swim and can see the gym. I see some people stopping at the pool end for a chat, clearly not socially distanced. In the gym I wouldn’t think a lot of the equipment is 2 metres plus apart.

I have never seen anyone sanitising the lockers (they could provide you with a sticker which you place on the door saying it was in use and should not be used again until the sticker had been removed during a cleaning process).

They have a hand sanitizer strategically placed for people to use on entry. On exiting the building where you have to pull the doors open there is nothing placed in a similar manner.

These are examples of how the whole set up is totally inconsistent at a local leisure centre.

If they can allow ‘none league’ fans to congregate on open terraces. Standing inches away from each other, then having a controlled amount to a designated seat, at a League match doesn’t seem too be overly difficult.

You're 100% correct but the problem that we've got is completely spelled out there.

Any time that they give people more freedom such as at a gym or at non-league football social distancing breaks down and companies aren't doing the simple things that could be done to keep people apart. Unfortunately, therefore, that's an argument for making more restrictions........not less. Why would they allow 5,000 fans into a football match when 200 fans can't do what they're asked.

It's okay football fans saying that we'd behave ourselves if we were let into grounds but every possible example shows that people actually wouldn't.

    Behave ourselves!! Ha ha.

Some people are really taking their eye off the ball! The issue is with the government and them not getting testing with track and trace sorted out.

People should be able to decide how to live their life now. We all know the risks! The government needs to concentrate on doing their job but this government is a shambles make no make about it!
