Quick question. At the very beginning of this saga, before he had joined us, what was the thinking behind playing him for the initial few games if you were desperate to get him off your books.

The ‘playing for 2 clubs’ rule was always likely to come back and bite you on the arse.

Re-Reading the first few pages of this thread, hardly any of you had a good word to say about him.

You manager with footballing people around him.

Said we went extremely safe with Bowyer but look he could still do what he is suppose to do and take us up.

We're not in a bad situation but need to win on Saturday and start a winning run in this deadful league.

Bowyer played him wrong mate but in defence of Bowyer he didn't want him to leave and I think this will be main reason for him coming back.

If Bradford City want to risk ruining Bowyer then they will leave him at Swindon. The club won't gamble with that and will let him go on a fee in the summer.

It’s a big personal risk of Bowyer to take him back.

If he reverts back to the previous Doyle you all - mostly - hate, he’s going to look a proper numpty.

I understood Bowyer wanted Doyle’s wages gone to free up signing 2 or 3 other players.

I didn't want him off our books, I just wanted us to play to his strengths but then we went and signed a couple players with a lot of Championship experience and then tried to play in a role he wasn't suited to.

No Bowyer stated on radio he didn't want in to go but the club made a case he could get a number of players in.

Mate, I know you want him to stay but ask yourself this.

Would you run the risk of one or your players getting another team promoted at your expense?

No, you wouldn't! So drop the act and tell it how it is. Bowyer and Bradford City would be foolish not to bring him back to try to help them get them promoted.

I don’t know how it is. Neither do you.

All will become clear in January.

He played him incorrectly in a 10 role, almost playing him in the middle of midfield just to get him in the side. Personally and other supporters thought the same that it was to play him with a view to him leaving to free up the wages.

There weren't many fans as you rightly say at the time crying about him leaving, infact I don't remember many sayng it was a bad move but no he's scoring it becomes an issue.

I was against him going quoting that we had no back up at the time, I believe we brought Otech in after Doyle had left, but as many have posted we needed money to prioritize other area's in the team, no one would have thought Doyle would produce at his present phenomenal rate (even you guys).
There have been several scenarios put forward with regards what our club should do, allow him to stay at Swindon and help beat both clubs promotion rivals, if swindon pay his full wages, tell Swindon they can take over his present contract and maybe offer him a longer deal giving Eoin security for another 2-3 seasons.
Bring him back to Bradford and hope he continues his goal fest to help us to promotion, I think I would bring him back after debating most of the situations.
With regards your highlighted comment, it was a difficult season last season for various reasons on and off the pitch, but he was only one player in a poor poor team, that certainly should have produced better.

I don’t see how Doyle’s situation come January will automatically end either club’s promotion hopes. If you think you’re stuffed without him, you don’t sound too optimistic.

Mate, for the last two games we haven't had a forward on the bench.

We've let Patrick go out on loan and 2 other forwards are out injured.

Bowyer doesn't look like he's turning to youth to solve this issue, so no I am not confident.

Yes, we've games in hand but we're making hard work of this league and unless Bowyer changes his mindset and the club takes risks like getting Doyle back then we could struggle.

Saturday's game is massive for us as we need to win that game in hand and move within 3 of you lot. Swindon are a dangerous team with a top forward line up and we can't let you all pull away.

Just shows you how important Doyle is to the Swindon team as from my recollection Swindon looked a very average side when they came down to Valley Parade without Doyle, scoring from their only shot on target.

I agree mate they looked average but with Doyle and Yates together they're dangerous.

If they some how keep Yates and Doyle then they should go up but that's a big IF.

Rotherham might feel Yates can now help them with their push to get promoted.

I was not that fussed when he left as I would have binned most of last seasons wimps.

However football is very fluid and we have lost Donaldson, Vaughan is struggling, Oteh is a bit part striker, McCarten (no idea) our loanee is the top scorer in the division (country) and we are paying some of is wages. That's a complete different scenario to when he left.

Only at Bradford would be justify him staying away because he did not light up the division last season cough, cough 11 goals in a really poor team.

    Bottom we finished bottom :(

I'm sure the subject of Doyle's return has been discussed at Valley Parade, and the in's and out's of the cost etc BUT I can't see how the club could justify not bringing him back, and the possibility of Doyle helping Swindon get promoted at our expense, what a horrible thought.

We play Swindon on the 4th of Jan. A decision needs to be made by then and hopefully Doyle will be back in a City shirt come the home game against Morecombe on the 1st.

It would be awful for City fans to go down to Swindon with them top rubbing it in about the Ginger Pele.

Looking at Swindon's up and coming games they should be top still come the New Year and we need to slow them down.

With Patrick going and I think some others will go also..I feel the club are already trying to make the move back work for them from a cost point of view. It's 5-6 key months for the club and this shouldn't be even a debate. He needs to come back and let's see.

Problem is a few years ago when in league 1 we let a player go to bolton in January who then got an unbelievable assist record in the 2nd half of the season and bolton got automatic promotion over us. We then lost in the playoff final.

Fans don't want the same thing happening again.

But buying, selling, loaning any player is a gamble. Those in charge make judgement calls and have to take the consequences.

We could have forked out £4K a week for Doyle and he could have been a cart horse.

I don’t think, even if he goes back, it’ll derail our promotion bid. The same as if he stays it shouldn’t make much difference to you.

Who’d a thought there’d be so much hoo-ha over Eoin Doyle!
