Of course I do but I come on here to interact with all things Bradford City. The obsession with last seasons player that plays for another club is quite depressing.

    Don't read it then.

He is still a Bradford City player.

Depends how you define a Bradford City player. I would have thought a Bradford City player is someone who plays for Bradford City. Going by you're logic we'd have to go to the Posh boards if we wanted to comment on Callum Cooke.

The statistics show our strikers have underperformed this year and wasted chances. on xG we should have scored more than we have (Donaldson for one is statistically underperforming).

The xG stats also show we create more chances than Swindon. Home and away.

There is no other explanation in this scenario than a Bradford City return.

Doyle remains at Swindon on loan = remainder of his contract we lose the hottest property in League 2 for £0 in the summer, and his final months are scoring for a rival. We ain't giving him away for nothing while under contract.

Bradford agree to sell to Swindon = Doyle doesn't want to sign for Swindon permanently because he can have his pick of clubs in the summer and command a very nice signing on fee towards his retirement fund.

Doyle returns to Bradford = he can't go elsewhere, we get him for 5 months in the form of his life, he still leaves for free next summer and gets his big signing on fee.

How about these alternatives:- Doyle wants to sign for Swindon. He is settled in a relatively nice area, he likes playing for Wellens and will get a reasonable signing on fee from Swindon. Swindon take his salary.

Doyle’s form dips= After a blistering start to the season, his strike rate falters, and/or he suffers an injury which prevents him playing. As he is on a season long contract he remains at Swindon.

Doyle returns to Bradford= He really doesn’t want to, he has tried and failed under three managers, he doesn’t feel at home, doesn’t feel welcome or loved, although he is ‘present’ his performances on the field are more like his previous spell. He is cautious about injury, wants away in Summer, so metaphorically ‘doesn’t turn up’. He is then a liability.

Signs for Swindon when???? And what signing on fee are you talking about? Swindon would have to pay us a transfer fee and pay Doyle? What? 6 months in advance? Not happening.

Need to explain that one a bit better....

@Bigrod@Bigrod - Sorry I stopped reading after you said we would give Doyle away to Swindon for free.

Not happening. Poor, very poor business acumen.

If he is costing us a sizeable sum, for arguments sake £3-4,000 a week, then given that his contract is likely to run for a further 26 weeks from 1st January 2020, a ‘free’ transfer to Swindon, the only other British club he can play for until his contract expires, would save us £78,000- 102,000 in wages. The money which would be ‘freed up’ could then be put towards another player or players. Strengthen the squad for the promotion push. That IMHO is very sound business acumen.

My hunch is that a Doyle returning too VP, when his heart is not in such a move, means he would struggle to replicate the form he has shown for Swindon. So he would cost us all his salary, which may mean we have to release some of our own current loan players.

If that happened it would be a very poor business decision. I give you the courtesy of reading your views, perhaps read what l have said in reply.

We'd have to convince Doyle to take a pay cut, more than likely.

I'm sure he'd prefer to earn from two clubs, and play the market this Summer .

But I agree, if we can give him away, I would.

A 55 page thread that's being going since August about a player that's moved on and doesn't play for us anymore where no decision or any developments will take place until January next year and you call me obsessive? Ironic or what.

Snooze alert for those that aren't interested in stats. But for those who are, read on.......

In League One last season City scored 49 in 46 (1.07 goals per game) in their relegation season. Based on the 'quality' of the chances we created, we had an expected goals (xG) total of 58.35 (1.27 goals per game). We underperformed in attack (and in defence, but that is another matter).

Eoin Doyle finished our top scorer with 11 goals. He unsurprisingly underperformed, as his xG tally for the season was 16.14 - he finished five goals short of what you'd expect based on the positions he found himself in and the quality of the service he received last season.

This season, following relegation, Doyle began the season in a City side that was dysfunctional. One of his three appearances came in the PNE cup thrashing, but, in the league, playing infront of that dire midfield we began the season with, City created xG figures of only of 0.52 vs Cambridge and 0.43 at Grimsby. Doyle's contribution to those totals in those games was a mere 0.05 goals - from two hopeful shots he mustered against Cambridge which you wouldn't have expected to score. He was later loaned to Swindon.

Since Doyle has left, City have increased their attacking output following the arrivals of Connolly, Cooke, and the return to fitness of Ismael, and increased our xG output from an average of 0.48 per game to 1.50 per game. We've netted 24 in 16 with an xG total of 24.01. This is despite the fact our two main strikers have underperformed based on the stats.....

Clayton Donaldson has only two goals to his name from an expected haul of 4.78, while skipper James Vaughan has bagged five and is top scorer, but is two goals shy of what we could have expected from the quality of chances that have fallen his way.

Since moving to Swindon and being reunited with his former Oldham boss Richie Wellens, Doyle has exploded.

He's scored 16 goals in 15 league appearances even though his xG from the chances created for him is 'only' 8.58 in the league. He cannot sustain such a ruthless run long term, but he wouldn't need to and could still be a prized attacking asset in the second half of the season.

Swindon are currently top of the league because of Doyle. The Robins' expected goals total so far this season is 20.71 (with Doyle responsible for 8.58 goals of that) yet his clinical form has enabled his side to overperform and climb to the summit.

You look at their 3-1 victory over Morecambe in August, in which Doyle scored twice. Swindon's xG output that game was only 0.89 for the team as a whole, - so the final scoreline, boosted by Doyle's brace, flattered them. Another example would have been their 2-1 victory over Walsall in November when their xG for that game was only 0.71. The Robins won 2-1, with Doyle on the scoresheet and bagging a key goal to again help them pick up extra points.

Sometimes players get these insane seasons, out of nowhere, where everything they touch turns to gold. Doyle is experiencing one such season for Swindon right now. He cannot maintain a goal output of 1.07 goals per game but if you have the option of bringing home a thriving player into a team which has improved leaps and bounds since he departed on loan, a recall is a no brainer?

Where do you want to invest this £78,000-£102,000? In a striker?! If you want to strengthen the squad then look no further than the leagues top goal scorer.

The squad needs trimming first, not adding to it. We have an abundance of Midfielders, far too many when the injuries clear up. Before we start talking about giving away the leagues best goal scoring to a RIVAL for FREE lets look at the players in the squad that offer absolutely nothing first and foremost. Lets look at giving them away for free - Shay, Omari, Anderson...we will probably get rid of Taylor too when his deal is up.

That would be better business acumen!
