He is but someone said what happens if we had some in the contract stating he will get an automatic extension with us if he plays x amount of games. So, I was just answering that point.

Its a big call for sure the club will have to sit down and think of the pros and cons of the situation.
We bring him back, would he sulk, if he does would that effect the squad, he may come back and continue scoring with better players around him providing service to him.
If we bring him back we pay his full wages with no guarentee he will continue to score, but his goals will be missed by Swindon, if he stays at Swindon his goals may contribute to Swindon beating fellow promotion rivals.
For me we tell Swindon they up their payment to his full wage if not he comes back, if they do go with his full wage and Doyle continues to score against our promotion rivals its win win.

When Doyle signed for City, the club statement said it was 'for an initial two years' which suggests there is an option to extend the contract beyond next summer. Who can exercise the option (most likely the club) and the terms of that option have never been released as far as I know. It's therefore a big step for somebody to say that it involves an automatic extension if Doyle meets some appearance criterion. Given the widely held belief of Doyle's largeish salary, I doubt that would be the case and I'd expect it being a matter for the club to decide whether to exercise the option or not.

Seems to be a standard comment recently if you look back through the recent signings or if not then they've said "until at least the end of 20?? season" Unless we've got options on the majority player I don't think it really means anything.
    Some examples i can remember:
    • Donaldson - " initial one-year contract"
    • Bowyer - "until at least the end of the 2021 season"
    • Ismail - "initial one-year deal
    • Mellor - "initial two-year deal"
Simon Parker seems to think he's out of contract in the summer and no mention of a clause https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/17997402.bantams-stay-silent-eoin-doyles-position-swindon/

We all knew he could score goals before he came to us and now after he’s played for us. The problem is the middle bit. If we bring him back I can only see a benefit of stopping Swindon rather than propelling us. Will bringing him back in January prevent us bringing in additional quality in other areas or keeping some of the loan quality currently here? Will his wages have an effect on FFP rules?
We could end up having to lose say a Cooke or a.n other to balance the books, then we’d have to consider what impact that would have on the team as a whole.

Swindon might not be the only club we stop by bringing him back.

I actually think bowyer had it right at the start of the season where he was playing DVD. Problem was that Donaldson should have been playing where Doyle was. Donaldsons best playing with his back to goal and bringing others into play. Doyle and Vaughan feeding off Donaldson would be the way to go.

Yep - Fully agree. I addressed a few of the above earlier in the thread. Even IF Doyle continues his form with us - Will that mean we have higher scoring Draws and defeats, as a consequence of him being here ? What if Peterboro' ask City to pay all Cookes wages ? As I said at the time ..... January could be 'interesting'.

If Reeves stays fit and starts playing regularly, would Peterboro' risk asking us to stump up more for Cooke when we might turn round and say 'Nah, you're alright thanks, either we keep him on the present terms or you can have him back'. I guess it will all depend on whether there is interest for him from elsewhere.

I think McAnthony would risk anything, playerwise. - However, The rest of your scenario is quite plausible, and possible ;)

I think Swindon will put a bid in. We'll accept it, as there's no evidence (apart from retrospective evidence) that Doyle is going to score for us. Use the money to sub Cooke's wages, or buy him outright.

Good point. Then begs the question, what is more important to us, Cooke or a POTENTIAL goal scoring Doyle. I was really happy with Doyle’s signing and have always maintained we haven’t seen the best of him in a city shirt. I would happily welcome him back but can’t help feel we wouldn’t see the same Doyle as Swindon are.

If we can cash in use the money elsewhere, then for me this would be the way to progress - providing the money is right.

Posh have far bigger fish to fry, they are asking £13m for Ivan Toney, would a struggling Premier League side take the gamble at around that figure?.

Sorry I am lost. Why would it come down to Cooke or Doyle? Bradford City fans don't have confuse things and let the club get away with delivering nonsense on and off the pitch.

Ok, to answer the simple question it's Doyle.

Superman Reeves is back and we've signed Taylor.

Now if anything happens to Donaldson or Vaughan then we question who will chip in and score the goals.

Fact is currently Doyle is the best forward in div 2 for goals.

Cooke is good player and I like him but we need as many goalscorer as we can get.

He does but I'd be amazed if he got anywhere near 13 million for Toney. He's not even proven in the championship yet.

Doyle scores again ha and some of you think we shouldn't bring him back.

He's making Bowyer and Bradford City look foolish. To be fair to Bowyer he didn't want him to leave.
