Since Sparks became CEO he deserves credit for off the field commercial activities and doing a lot of work to bring more money in. However we have had multiple heads of recruitment and managers, no matter who’s been in charge of the football side of things we’ve continually wasted good money after bad. In my opinion we need a proper director of football to over see operations and bring more accountability and cut out the wastage.

Appreciate where you’re coming from there. Would be interested to see how he impacts the game from a start.

Also, re Taylor, one of the worst players I’ve ever seen, extremely confused as to where that start has come from at all given the pre season - it’s been very clear from those games that he’s just not good enough. Really confusing signing and not a clue what they’ve seen in him that he can bring to our game. A really weird one and I’d rather not see him start ever again to be honest

The team I watched yesterday were worryingly very reminiscent of the shambles that got us relegated under Rahic's tenour

He’s another dreadful signing from the Stephen Gent stable of crap players.

    That’s a bold statement.

Intrigued here, why is Osadebe copping for it when he was one of a few players who came out with credit today?

By a country mile not even in the worst few current players never mind since Bruenker

While he’s not scoring and assisting week in week out, the way some of the people talk on here as if he’s total crap is outrageous. He’s not gonna dribble around an entire team and score a worldie but especially recently (Crewe away for example) he’s been one of few players who carries the ball nicely and progresses the attack while in possession. He takes men on often and is reasonably creative in his output, which for me is the sort of player we need at the moment. People on here implying he’s overrated or even crap are wrong. Don’t care what other fans of other clubs have said, for me he’s a reliable player who’s decent most of the time.

Part of the problem with Osadebe is that he never seems to have the ball under control at all. He can't get his head up as he always has to look where the ball is as more often than not it's stuck either under his foot or between his ankles.

Due to this his play always seems panicked or rushed. In the space of a minute on Saturday, he trod on the ball and fell over then shortly after when given the chance of heading to the byline or picking out a ball he did neither and proceeded to hit the ball straight at hallidays noggin.

Nothing in any game since his return stands out as being particularly impressive and invariably the team performance drops when he comes on. He was the first second half change yesterday and it went backwards from there.

People mention him looking lively and wanting to get involved but he needs to be disciplined when doing so. Chasing about is good but there is a time and a place, running into someone on the left side of midfield when you should be at right wing back isn't the best idea.

He got the attitude with Stubbs when he was getting a bollocking on Saturday, turning his back with a pathetic chatting hand signal in response. A senior pro was telling him what was expected and he didn't want to know.

At the minute he seems to be what Walsall fans said he'd be, a one good game in ten sort of player but nothing at all in between. Part of that problem appears to having no real set position suited to him. He ain't creative or controlled enough for a winger, he can't defend so that seemingly rules out playing winger or full back yet he is given a role that means he have to do both.

Very unlucky with the injury and always having to play catch up but a big improvement is needed to avoid being out the door in June surely.

So all those things you say he can do are outweighed by what he can't do.

He can run and glide past players but has zero end product. We've seen absolutely nothing from him.

Another dreadful signing we paid a fee for.

I think he has got ability I just get the sense he's so desperate to do well its hindering him. He needs to take a bit of pressure off himself he hasn't had much football since he signed. I got a similar sense from Cook he looked frustrated alot. They both need to take a bit of pressure off themselves and focus on building a bit of confidence.

Can I just add, not sure who saw the game today, or was at the game.
Osadebe, much like many of the pre season games was a breath of fresh air today.
He came on and tried different things, played some great balls and caused threat after a performance where the rest of the side (bar a couple of exceptions) were pedestrian, lethargic and clueless.
Finding it hard to bite my lip here, but the comments in here after todays match are so wide of the mark it’s untrue.
Most players got booed off today, there’s a reason Osadebe was one of only three or four who got clapped off

Spot on that. He got a bollocking because he deserved one and you are correct - his attitude towards Stubbs was pathetic.

Ive given him a fair chance, horrible injury and when he came back last season he got a pass on his atrocious performances.

This year no excuse. He has had a full pre season and his cameos have been woeful. When Chapman is back and Hughes finally lets Pointon off the leash - Paddy wont make the match day 18.

Nice to see him recover from his leg breaks but he’s a positionless, headless chicken. we need to be offloading asap.

There are some credentials of a half decent player in there somewhere. He has great athleticism, he can run, he can glide past players with ease and he's willing to put the shift in, running the miles, tracking back etc.

What lets him down is the fact that his positioning / general football intelligence is well below par and he doesn't seem to have any sort of end product, whether that be a shot on goal or that final pass or cross.

Whether or not he can become a useful asset to us remains open to debate.

Some outrageous posts on this thread trying to compare Osadebe with Bruenker, without doubt Osadebe is a frustrating/difficult conundrum. He obviously has talent most football fans can see that but channelling that talent into a specific position looks difficult, this is where high quality managers come into it and see these things other managers don't.
But to compare Bruenker a well built Sunday league player thrown up front in L2 to ruffle feathers with Osadebe a technically decent lower EFL player that possibly just requires some good guidance from a good manager and to unearth his best position is madness and should not even be discussed.

He's like Jake Young but without the great right foot shot. What exactly does he do? He doesn't really fit a position, Levi Sutton another who had a similar problem though i'd take Sutton over Osadebe every day of the week.

He's a bit of a big lump for a bambi. I actually thought he had been doing OK back end of last season. Not as bad as some were making out. But oh dear Saturday was poor

Spot on as I see it also. I don’t like player bashing so will refrain from doing so, but as I see it, your points on Osadebe are constructive and accurate. I wish I had seen the performances in last seasons pre-season, when apparently he looked decent. Sadly all I have seen is the cameo bench performances where I cannot remember one that he had a significant impact on.

As you mention, he strangely is often the first sub we make, which is even more confusing. Screams of a player needing regular football if he is to regain the performance levels he needs.

Energy and passion are there - sadly that’s all I can see from him now and it isn’t enough to be anywhere near our starting XI and I’d even challenge our match day squad right now.
