Chapman is that player which we will see when he is up to speed with fitness but we do need a similar player on the right

Not from what I've heard from a guy who knows him well. Says he's a talented player but a different type of player to Vernam and Periera.

I have seen him a few times and he is similar in style to Dion possibly a little less direct than Vernham

I read so many negative comments about the match yesterday, I stopped going on the thread. Let's face it, if we lose at Barrow, there will be some (not all) questioning Hughes. We have a significant number of social media warriors that are so 'knee jerk'. I guess that' what five years of poor results gives us!!

It's all relative isn't it? I for one think that Rovers will not struggle at all and I tipped them before to go up along with us and Mansfield) and I've seen nothing to change my mind (of course at this stage those predictions are just a bit of fun)

They've got a very good defense and clearly have followed the Forest Green policy of cynical play - which didn't serve that team too badly.

I love the way that when we don't beat a team, it's seen as poor by us - as opposed to perhaps realising the team we beat came with a plan and so, no, like Forest Green last season, we haven't necessarily seen their best form.

I actually thought it was far more impressive than any of the home performances in the second half of the season (however I was on holiday for the Carlisle) match. We did something we didn't do last season, even when it was 11 v 11 and that's dominate midfield and the defence in all aspects looks very good - especially as we now have adequate reserves.

The impression that they didn't look like they'd played together much - was more to do with their desperation to get that vital first goal. I certainly more disconnected play in an average game last season than his.

Yes. Improvement is needed. Not certain why Harrat wasn't started (he won't be either for the next match!!) as we had too many players who were not direct enough.

But I'll settle for and opener that gives 80% possession and the opposition celebrating like they'd just won promotion.

I can only judge Doncaster on what I see, they look poor judging by that. As for us I've no doubt we will bet better as the season goes on when the side gels. Judging by yesterday though Vernam will be a big loss.

Doncaster also had a number of injuries to key players. They had a solid defence but we played into their hands somewhat. Quite a bit of naivety on our part.

For as naive as our attacking was at times, 22 shots speaks for itself. Hitting the target twice is the reason we drew.

Lumping balls into the box time and time again wasn’t clever. Of the 22 shots off target, very few were quality chances.

Anyway, back to Osadebe - as most have said, gutted for the lad after a good preseason.

I'm sure he knows he has all of our best wishes

Typically 3 to 6 months to 'recover' from that type of injury, then add in at least 1, possibly 2, months to get back up to any sort of match fitness. So, anything from 4 to 8 months and that's assuming there are no significant setbacks along the way.

Yep…. I looked it up and it’s a 4-6 months recovery. It will hopefully be recovered by Jan and then he’s got to get back up to fitness and get his confidence back. Can’t imagine he’ll be back on the pitch before March sadly. :(

    Dont over egg their case.
They started off with a back line half way between the centre circle and the next bank of four on the halfway line. As soon as they realised Oliver and Angol had their two centrebacks on toast for pace ( remember Oliver span their centre back for a clear shot at goal which was on target and their keeper dived to his right to palm it away) they dropped the back line to the edge of their box and their middle 4 where the original back line were.
This did two things. Their 2 forwards were isolated and thus in general reliant on the longer ball, but most importantly we were faced with two really deep lying two sets of 4 defenders plus the keeper, all in a very cramped space. From a tactical point of view, coupled with ridiculous timewasting it was effective. They were good defenders ONLY because their two what I call “ donkey” centrebacks, became less reliant on pace but capable of winning header’s and getting away with pulling shirts and arms etc ( Hughes alluded to this) .
I guess from that one early incident where Oliver had his shot saved they largely gave up on the game, and became reliant on a breakaway or a set piece. That’s why the last 5 minutes of play where they had two corners yet tried to keep it in the corner, was comedyesque.
They won’t go far playing like that, and face a long hard season. They won’t get that lucky as they did yesterday all that often.

I watch the CityVent on Friday night and ironically Gordon flash Watson spoke about his leg break saying it moved so fast by the time his wife got to the Yorkshire Clinic Steve Bollen one of the best in the business was operating on him, although Emmanuel did not have his operation until this morning he will be in the best of hands if its Steve and his team who have done the operation, as above speedy recovery Emmanuel the short time we saw you it looked like you will give opposition defences problem when fit.

Harrogate are trying to sign Jack Diamind permanently. Appearently he is available.

One to consider with Eisa and Osadebe out injured.

If its known Sunderland are now prepared to let him move on permanently, I would imagine there will be quite a bit of interest from league 2 clubs. Whether he will attract interest from league 1 or not, I'm not sure.

Worth a bid from us in my opinion, especially given we have lost Eisa and Osadebe for a long time.

Still hoping we can get Pereira back, but can we risk waiting to see what Luton have planned for him for too long?

I have reservations about Diamond. He seems to be one of those players that thrives at a smaller club so I'm not convinced he'd do well with us. Obviously if he did sign for us I would hope to be proved completely wrong, but I won't be disappointed if he goes elsewhere.
