No we shouldn't. Despite the horrendous injury suffered by Osadebe yesterday, there is no comparison to the viscious intent shown by Kevin Gray. I'm confident young Ravenhill had no pre-meditated desire to inflict such damage on his opponent, unlike Gray

If you saw both incidents live, which I did, you'll know the difference.

I watched the new EFL football show on ITV and they didn’t even discuss the tackle on Osadebe. The discussion was just about the sending off of Tomlin and he thought the ref got that wrong. Bring back Colin Murray

The chap who i know is next to him in the ward said he’s had a clean break and his surgeon said it’s not as bad as first thought.

I disagree, Luke O’Nein for Sunderland did a similar tackle yesterday which also got given as a yellow, thankfully the player wasn’t injured. But the commentary team and pundits agreed he was lucky to get away with it. Studs up with force is a red card offence regardless of getting the ball, for the exact reason of what can happen as we saw Saturday. Cards aren’t given out for if a player is hurt or not it’s the nature of the offence. Rightfully so.

Yorkshire Clinic does not have an emergency department. Planned operations only. NHS picks up all emergency and non profitable (i.e. complicated) stuff.
It's possible Bollen operated on him at the BRI if he was available, another surgeon if he wasn't. Alternatively he could have been moved to the Yorkshire clinic for the op.
First line treatment, stabilisation and pain relief will have been at the BRI though.

Truly awful but the ambulance was away quicker than the ref allowed help on the field so he will get prompt attention. When the leg is fully healed, it is likely to be his stronger one though he will probably set airport alarms off. Anyway, here's hoping for better luck in the future.

This reminds me so much of the Gordon Watson incident. We all know the outcome of that..?
6 mins into the season and ….

He came across in the vids as a great lad…I do feel sorry for him..

I wasn't there on Saturday, but I've just watched the video a number of times. Ravenhill goes in fast and low and does get all of the ball. It looks like the damage is the speed of tackle, but it doesn't look malicious, unlike Gray's on Watson which (I've seen again very recently) and was a very deliberate attempt to hurt Watson.

Really feel for Paddy, hope he recovers well, but it will be a long process for him.

That's exacly the type of player we needed against Doncaster when they parked the bus second half.

A big day for the lad, making his debut at home for his new team. What a dreadful way to end the occasion. If it's a double break as Hughes has indicated then that could be his season over already!

Really feel for the lad and wishing him all the best for his recovery.

Anyway, back to Osadebe - as most have said, gutted for the lad after a good preseason.

I'm sure he knows he has all of our best wishes

I broke my tib and fib whilst playing and had surgery the following day and was weight bearing 6 weeks later. With the physio team at city caring for him everyday he will make a faster recovery than I did as I wasn't even given physio at all and I was able to start playing again 12 months later. The one problem with breaking your leg and returning to football is the psychological element and making that first big challenge , some players can't overcome it and give up playing and some persevere and eventually forget.

Don’t like to differ General but even though he got the ball it was the follow through. In my opinion reckless, out of control all equals red.
From what I’ve seen that other proponent of the Dark Arts Steve Evans had one of his involved in a two footed tackle at Tranmere and escaped a red also.
