nothing would surprise me. If it was just the sport I think it would be more believable but can not see the movie houses getting on board with it

Yes but the movies etc on them are in the main legally readily available on Netflix/Prime anyhow, so I'm pretty sure for the techys that run these then the movies/series uploaded to their servers is the easy part.

I’m not so sure you know, apparently people on sky broadband find it hardest to get a regular unbuffering fiddle stick as sky always put blockers out. I may probably be wrong but I’ve heard a lot of people saying similar. But nothing would surprise me to be fair

That is interesting,a family member of mine has a fire stick and also Sky broadband and it buffers badly on Saturday match day but seems to work well midweek.

if they put blockers on it wouldn’t buffer it just wouldn’t show as it would be blocked.

The EFL have updated the new TV deal announcement (8 April 2024), although I don't think there's much new since it was previously published:
    https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12873679/sky-sports-agrees-new-five-year-efl-deal-over-1000-matches-per-season?dm_i=7KND,2T46,8G4Y5,C3I1,1

Domestic access will be via a Sky Sports subscription or by purchasing a Now TV 1 day or monthly sports pass.

Got an email off the EFL this morning as a customer of iFollow to inform me that the service was ending at the end of the season, which we knew already.

In it it gave details of the options available next year to watch, basically get Sky or get a Now TV day pass.

A day pass is currently about £12 so a big % increase to this year but with the added bonus that you would have access to all Sky Sports for the day, pity we will not see any of that extra income though and it will all go into Sky pocket.

Might be wrong but I'm fairly certain iFollow is still going to be available overseas for any VPNers.

Details on the new sky deal work out at around £400k per season for the clubs in L2. A pretty good increase on ifollow monet for us (was it 300k we made from it last season?). But a huge increase for the smaller clubs.

It is available for oversea people.

It is a good increase on the previous iFollow income, but it doesn't just replace that. It replaces the current Sky deal as well

Yes, true. I think we still come out up because the sky money for L2 clubs was pretty irrelevant per season.

It goes up if we get promoted. L2 clubs get 8%, L1 clubs get 12% and CH clubs get 80% of the money for the next 5 years.

I was wondering how many games that will actually mean moving. Once bank holiday and mid week games are added together it might not be many games to move

The average of 16 seems strange as everyone is guaranteed - 4 international breaks, midweeks fixtures (6 this season), boxing day, New Years Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, first day and last day - which is 16 games. I wonder if that was a type by the EFL and they meant to say minimum as I don't see how it will be 16 on top of that when only. Them rounds of fixtures would take up 192 of the 248 games scheduled for broadcast in league 2 so there should be a maximum of 56 games shown live from the remaining 30 rounds of fixtures which isn't a lot between 24 clubs. If it is spread out equally that would make 4 or 5 games each.

You are right, 248 matches in total equates to an average of 20.66 matches per club.

As a bonafide overseas subscriber, despite my reluctance to pay for yet another season of League 2 rubbish, I'm a little worried about the wording of this new deal for international broadcasts. It seems to suggest a return to the scandalous practice of blocking the video stream of a game if it's been chosen for broadcast by a minor Moroccan subscription channel. I am waiting for more details before I renew my subscription.

This reads to me that Pitch International will have the exclusive rights to 38 games in league 2 which won't be available for club streaming, the rest should be as they are now. This was from the rights deal announced in March this year.
