I thought Pritchard didn't do what he was supposed to. Great blocks and all, but where were the passes? Did we even play in the middle of the park? He also had a few chances to shoot, but took too long.

Overall not a bad performance tonight in a lacklustre competition, played more like a pre season friendly.
Even referee Carl Boyeson was quite by his ludicrous standards.

Donaldsons goal will not be goal of the season Mr K. Fact

Apparently his foot had swollen up after being trodden on a few times. Going for an x-ray tomorrow.

Sikora, Finn and Scales look like they have something. Not sure about Shanks. Seems a bit too small and perhaps would do better going out on loan to toughen him up a bit. Horny decent number 2.
Just wish we had some youth strikers also.

He was our best player , he had a couple of good runs , taking on and beating a couple of Wolves players on two occasions. He appears to be a versatile player who with a bit more experience could be pushing for a first team place.

It probably is Donaldson's (only) goal of the season to be fair

I ended up watching the game and can echo what others have said regarding the younger players. Cousin-Dawson was probably man of the match for us and I wonder if he was brought off because Stuart wants to involve him a bit more in the first team. Sikora and Scales also impressed.

There wasn't much from the more senior players. Paudie was caught out a few times, Pritchard was steady, Ismail had a few moments but didn't actually create much, nothing from DMH and Donaldson was isolated most of the time. Hosannah looks like a good addition and provides a slightly different option to French - clearly likes to get forward and has a good turn of pace. Hornby in goal showed his quality with some good saves, especially the one on one which was a cracker, and also distributed pretty well.

No fan of this competition but last night's game was a good watch.

And for all the negativity about this competition it should never be forgotten it is providing a platform and first team action for our younger players to show what they can do to a slightly bigger audience than they would get playing purely youth football

The negative about the competition for me wasn't so much about the premier league youth teams playing in it, it was more so that we couldn't develop our own youngster sin the competition if we wanted to and the rules were strict about who could play and who couldn't. A tournament with a focus of developing the elite clubs youth but yet couldn't do that with our own?

Not sure what's changed this season but the ruling seems a lot more relaxed.

Totally agree BB, I think common sense has prevailed at last - previously fining smaller clubs unless they played so many starters from the last league match was a farce and as usual treating the lower league clubs with disdain

I believe the rules were relaxed before last season's competition but, yes, it has gone some way to balancing the rules between the League One/Two clubs and the 'invited' clubs.

To be honest, I'd accept this competition a lot more, if I didn't believe the Premier League wants to use this competition to slowly wedge open the door for 'B' teams in the league. Perhaps the talks over the conditions for a Premier League payment to the EFL will go a long way to removing those doubts or setting the alarm bells ringing; we shall see.

    Goal of the season that!

As in , his ONLY goal of the season.

The way FCW Andy Kiwomya was creaming himself, you'd think it was Gazza putting Hendry on his arse, before volleying into the net.

Well that didn't take long. Less than two hours after my post: Crisis may lead to Premier League B teams in EFL, says City's Soriano
So as not to derail this thread, I've started a new thread here in General Football.
