Does Gilly often captain when Richie isn't playing?

I found it slightly perplexing that it wasn't Macdonald. Who was marshalling the team all game.

I doubted 100% the self certified injury, no bones about it, and not afraid to admit it, but fairs fair he was v good last night and as I said probably from the get go , I hope he stays. The money side of a sale didn’t fuss me because we didn’t need it , contrary to Twitter. And so it proved.

The owner funding the new stadium was the catalyst, exactly the same at Brentford. Without them the stadium doesn't get built. We'd need to find a Tony Bloom or Mathew Benham before even thinking about a new stadium, it's why Peterborough haven't progressed with theirs.

We had seats near the half way line Wembley segregated the fans by putting a couple of sheets of netting with an OAP stood between us and the Millwall crew, nasty group and they were middle aged men not kids.
I wouldn't like to think of the consequences if we'd have scored the winner late in the game.

Peterborough can’t survive on their attendance levels. Circa 7-8 k average inc season ticket holders.

I think it was probably just some small recognition of the effort he has put in all season. Regarding MacDonald. Like many players it's just in his nature. They don't need an armband to do the job.

They don’t deserve a club that regularly plays in the 2nd tier.

    Yep.

Getting bottled going into the tube station, with police nowhere to be seen by some of their thugs was awful. Absolutely despise Millwall because it wasn't just a few of them.

Not sure why you need to be so argumentative over every post that anyone makes.
I asked a genuine question as to whether the Brighton kids were any better than the Liverpool or Man City kids because I don’t know.
It didn’t warrant a snide reply from you.

Not what I said. My comment was we could set an all time low for an attendance, but would expect Bradford V Blackpool to be the best crowd (both being glory starved). I would be surprised if ANY combination of those four finalists attracted a crowd of circa 25,000, and if it did, there would be a lot of freebies in there.

Do you have the first idea how much a new stadium would cost ? Take 25 years rent on VP and at least quadrouple it just to get a 15,000 tin box. Leaving VP just isn't an option.

I believe American Express paid a good chunk of the costs of their new ground. They also sold the goldstone for £7.5 million in 1995.

I get the costs of a new stadium and of course the club could never fund it themselves but out of curiosity, (because I don’t know), how did the following clubs end up with new stadiums?
    Who funded them?
    Who owns them?
I’ve excluded PL clubs because obviously they can afford new stadiums.

    Leicester
    Southampton
    Coventry
    Hull
    Middlesboro
    Cardiff
    Millwall
    Swansea
    Stoke
    Rotherham
    Bolton
    Derby
    Oxford
    Northampton
    Wigan
    Shrewsbury
    Reading
    Morecambe
    Wimbledon
    Colchester
    Doncaster

Leeds planning new stand to take capacity to 55.000 as owners say Elland rd not big enough for a club with ambition.
    Maybe we could share

McDonald was very vocal last night and his experience certainly played a major part in our overall team performance.

Impossible to fully assess all of them, but a good number were built years ago and well before costs went through the roof. Many are now housing or commercial developments. I've taken a few examples and put notes next to them, before I lost the will to live.

Leicester - Filbert street was sold by the club for around £4million and is now housing, The new ground cost £37 million but Leicester effectively wiped out all the debt on the new stadium when they went into administration and Birge Contstuction took a massive hit on the cost.

Southampton - St Mary's cost £32 million and the Dell was sold to Barrats, who built houses on it. No idea how much it was sold for

Coventry - built as part of a multi use development, initially for the 2012 summer olympics, so will have had government funding. Coventry don't, and as far as I can make out, have never owned it and pay rent that would probably make our eyes water.

Hull - Cost £44 million and was paid for by the City Council when they sold off a huge chunk of Kingston Communications. Hull & Hull RFC are tenants.

Middlesboro - no idea who funded it (possibly part by Steve Gibson) but it only cost £16 million and Ayresome park was sold to a developer and is now housing.

Cardiff - This one is the first of the big costs at £100million. Redrow bought the land, but it looks like Cardiff were tenants of the council, not sure who funded it, but it nearly broke the club so I guess they paid for some of it, later recovering a good chunk in naming rights. Sam Hamman was owner at the time it was started, so I expect some dodgy deals were done that meant he didnt pay anything.

Millwall - Sold the old den for £6.5 million and the cost of the new one was £16 million. As this is in London and LOndon councils seem awash with cash, I would imagine Lewisham Council put up a good chunk.

Swansea - no idea, but the EU launched an investigation into it's funding so it's a fair guess that a good chunk of the money came from them.

Stoke - Cost £15 million of which £4.5 million was a grant and £1 million from the britannia Building society. Peter Coates and his family are in the UK's top ten richest.

    Rotherham - Tony Stewart ?

    Bolton ??

Derby - put the club 30 million in debt

Oxford - No idea, but the wealth of The Daily Mirror might have helped, as might the way the owners dipped into the Mirror group pension scheme.

Northampton - Only cost £6million. No idea who funded it. May have received a wedge from the cricket club who wanted the county ground back.

Wigan - Dave Whelan ? Again only cost £30 million, possibly funded by the sale of Springfield Park, possibly from the bottomless pit that was Dave Whelan.

Reading - John Madejski was seriously minted and the complex included hotels etc. I believe the land only cost £1million as part of it was earmarked for a bypass. The stadium cost £50 million but grants will have been available because of methane gas on the site.

Morecambe - not worth even thinking about. Only holds 6,000 and we could develop manningham mills into a better ground. Cost £12 million. Presumably mainly funded by the sale of Christie Park to Sainsburys

The issue is we own nothing, so have no collateral to put in, and don't have a sugar daddy. I very much doubt that many of the above were paid for by the club owners in full apart from maybe Rotherham.

Right, I'm off for a lie down now, that was exhausting. :) Enjoy my attempts to become RCB
