Why offer him less money after a good solid season for us. He was brought in under the new owners so won’t be on a fortune anyway. I just don’t get the penny pinching or what it’s meant to achieve.

Very true. If he was offered a new deal on reduced terms because they don't see him as first choice next season then that's understandable IF whoever comes in is an upgrade. Let's see.

 

The fickleness of football fans. Six months ago, or whatever, people round me would have been ecstatic if Doyle had left, now the owners are the Devil itself for letting him walk away. Don’t get me wrong, I can be fickle too, football makes fans emotional.

I get it that the owners have not helped themselves on a number of occasions, made some real gaffes, but they offer a deal, the other party doesn’t accept it, there’s a parting of the ways. It happens.

I am all for the freedom to criticise decisions but it strikes me that for some if Edin offered them £100 for simply breathing they’d find some angle to hate about it.

Who didn’t want investment in the pitch? Who didn’t think club shop needed attention? I am honestly not their biggest fan but the vitriol around Doyle leaving seems way over the top to me.

 

When it comes to back up keepers then you may have a point but the only one of our last 4 first choice goalkeepers not to have been capped by their country in the last month is the one that broke the club record for the number of clean sheets in a season so it can't be all bad.

That said, I do think that we will struggle to find an upgrade on Doyle.

 

You have to laugh at the overreaction on there.

 

They offered him a deal he turned it down and some on here told me you never accept the first offer, great advice you know who you are, they obviously have a better alternative lined up......havent they.

 

Spot on. Doyle would have been my number two next season as there are better out there.

Club must have someone lined up and found him while Doyle was delaying.

 

I accept he’s not the best keeper in the world. I hoped we would sign him up and bring some genuine competition in for him. I’m just concerned that we seem to think we can bring in better quality on peanuts which isn’t always the case. Keeper is a key position so let’s hope it’s not a kid from the park! I’m not convinced by their signing of keepers so far!

Fair enough but is there better quality out there with wages we want to pay....remains to be seen.

He really thinks he is playing football manager.. you know when you get bored and start doing silly things.. maybe Rahic wanted to fo a Roy.. make Doyle take corners ? Train him to be a striker ?

You don't accept first offer, you negotiate. I was told Doyle rejected and his agent was looking elsewhere. Standard practise in football to get the best deal but it is nearly July now.

No tears for Law and Tony getting released, you would think the club had murdered his family...

 

Lets see who we bring in it wouldn't suprise me if it was another German keeper Edin really did rate the last two, but I'll be delighted if we bring Ripley in..

 

I predict we will go down the loan route on a keeper. Another budding Pickford would be nice!!!

 

Plus he's started getting more game time for the Republic so he must be doing something right!

As I said previously I wouldn't be surprised is he ends up in the Championship.
