There is. You can't pass the FA qualification without showing you can coach.

Yes there is no doubt you can't always be successful and I don't think anyone would have complained if they had done as they said they would, continued as the last owners did giving Phil free hand with most things football and introduced their model once they had got experience of running a football club.
Fortunately the first season went beyond their wildest dreams, but Edin still wanted more input into football matters, most people would have been happy with a Wembley Final appearance, not Mr I know football, he thought he could do better and the first sign of a poor run sacked McCall, history is showing he didn't, but in finding that out he has put our club back at least 3 seasons.
I posted when Hopkin took the job he would pull the club around 10 or so games into his tenure I'm beginning to question my original comment, not because I don't think Hopkin can turn us around but there is something within the club that is deeper than new manager, new players, new CCO, that for me is the most worrying thing.

I think Hopkin will turn it around and did when he first came in and still do.

The players were signed by a committee of 3/4 of the worst candidates you can ever dream up in footballing terms. Abbott. Drury, Collins and Edin. Now what do they have to show they can sign players for a league one side going for the play offs minimum? They have nothing. Yet they used a half decent budget to assemble this squad so sadly we are stuck with it now until January.

Hopkin has not only got to arrest the slide he’s got to do so with a squad put together by those 4. Now we haven’t got to January yet and are in need of some points. But what else can he change before January? I think he will change his staff eventually. He will change the squad. And if we become a success again on the pitch I think people will be less vocal about the owners.

Lawn and Rhodes turned it around? I assume you're referring to when ML & JR appointed a playing legend (Jacko) as manager and then got rid of him and replaced him with Parky? Or was it when another playing legend (McCall) left of his own volition and was replaced by the experienced Peter Taylor? One example proved to be a long term success story after a rocky start and the other I'd also rather forget about! History sometimes does repeat itself and I hope on this occasion it's a repeat of the Parky story and not the Taylor story!

But even with the Parky example, he was able to bring in some of his own players before the transfer window closed and was then able to use the loan market. He also convinced ML&JR to stop the development squad experiment and to have those funds transferred to his first team playing budget. And it was still touch and go. I suspect, no I know that Hopkin's hands are tied in two of the three areas which Parky was able to exploit and probably the third as well. Hopkin has no such luck. He is having to do whatever he can for the next 12 games with the cards he's already been dealt. What he is attempting to salvage is a damned more difficult than what Parky had to contend with. Just because ML & JR turned it around once and failed on another occasion is no guarantee that R&R will be able to repeat the success story.

I’ve never said it’s a guarantee they will turn it around but I was replying to bronco who stated no owner has ever taken us backwards or something along those lines.

Hopkin has stated he is looking at players and I think he will get who he wants rather than what Edin wants. You don’t have to believe it but that’s what he’s saying in the press so what else do we have to go with?

And of course it was the parky era turnaround but as said I was replying to broncos specific comments

It would be great because he then might be sacked and I wouldn't have to watch him play football again.

Well it will be a complete reversal of what Rupp stated. The club will have to be self sufficient, and for the record that means no further investment from them. So I am not quite sure where the resources are coming from to help Hopkin in January. We can but hope, but I am using my head instead of my heart. Not to mention the sheer fact that in we are still lounging at the bottom, our attractiveness will be reduced considerably, plus low wages will make it almost impossible to bring players in.

My own view is that seeing as they have wasted the club’s income during the summer that is leaving us vulnerable to relegation they should use their own funds to finance the players coming in, and that is if we can manage to persuade players to come.

So there are different FA qualifications.

Here's the link to the FA Coaching Pathway:
    file:///C:/Users/Ian/AppData/Local/Packages/Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe/TempState/Downloads/fa-education-coaching-pathway%20(1).pdf

I have Level 2 and have been trying to get on the Level 3 / Uefa B course for several years but unless you are coaching at some sort of professional academy or an ex pro you cannot get on the courses. Each of the county FA's tend to run only 1 course a year for about 24 applicants. You need to exhibit a 'log book' of experience and they visit coaching sessions to assess and mentor you...

Edin has quoted at the outset that he had a coaching qualification, which I am assuming is from Germany but Germany has more qualified coaches and they are required to do many more hours on their log book to achieve more senior qualifications. So I don't know what qualification he has got exactly or where he got it....

So this what Mikey had as a Uefa A badged coach:
    http://www.thefa.com/get-involved/coach/courses/all-courses/the-fa-uefa-a-licence?utm_medium=news_article&utm_source=thefa.com&utm_content=discover-the-coaching-pathway&utm_campaign=oct_2016

So if you look there is a total of 18 days tutoring plus however many 'log book' hours and mentoring sessions in between.

It shouldn't, but does it? Most businesses have departmental managers and you would expect to be supervised by them, not the owner. It just gives the impression he doesn't trust them even though he employed them.Maybe he doesn't trust himself? We don't.

There will be practical assessment I have no doubt but it's not the real world and you only have to compare his man management skills with what the likely outcome would be if he was the coach!

Exactly, I have hardly any official qualifications in the job I do but I reckon I’m better at my job than 75-80% of people who do have paper qualifications.

To me it's all about experience. I become a better coach the more I coach. I've coached for longer than Mickey, whilst not having his qualifications on paper, I have seen more football games in my life than he has but Edin thought what a good appointment that would be..the most important decision the club will make over the next few years...hey ho well done Edin...
