Sorry, just trying to get my head around how that is allowed officially as league rules state the whole ground has to be no smoking, I think the safety certificate says the same.

I might be wrong, @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler is the whole ground supposed to be no smoking?

Me too. How do we have a smoking area allowed inside VP? Surely its got to be outside?

@Storck@Storck the smoking area is outdoors but it is actually within the stadium perimeter as you have to enter the turnstiles/pay in to access it.

You can only use the smoking area once through the turnstiles, so outsiders can’t just walk into it if that makes sense.

Turnstiles -> outdoor Smoking Area -> indoor Concourse.

In which case we are breaching league rules that state the whole of the ground after the point of entry should be no smoking, as does the safety certificate

I’ll see if I can find the exact rule but this is from their example of ground regulations

There’s many grounds who have something similar.

Charlton, Blackburn, Southend are recent examples with outdoor smoking areas behind the away end, only accessible once inside the turnstiles.

Smoking inside the ground where a cigarette caused the death of 56 people. Oh the irony!

Inside the ground so smoking should be banned.

On what basis do you make this prediction?

Furthermore, what are you trying to insinuate?

I reckon that as having a smoking area in the ground technically breaks league rules, and the clubs own ground regulations, they will not want video recordings of it happening

A lot of other clubs have outdoor smoking areas within the stadium perimeters. I’d find it hard to believe they’re all breaking the rules.

You’re probably just looking too much into it. It’s outdoors and those who don’t smoke aren’t affected by it.

Not sure where the ‘glass’ bottle bit has come from. You cannot take glass bottles into the ground and they do not sell glass bottles in the ground.

The ‘smoking area’, if I am correct is at the rear of the Kop. It is actually outside the stadium, but opens out into a fenced area (a bit like a five a side pitch), which can only be accessed through secure gates.

My view is that education is the appropriate way forward. The details of those recorded and a ‘marker’ put on their membership if they have ST’s. As has been said by many, we all did things in our youth, which we would not do now.

Perhaps they need to attend a course, which they have to actually pass, before any suspension of entry to the ground is waived. In essence then on ‘licence’.

My example of the glass bottles being thrown were to show that not everything that had claimed to have happened actually happened.

If the smoking area is actually outside the stadium but access is only possible from inside the stadium surely it is still part of the ground and therefore the league ground regulations and the clubs ground regulations still hold. If not then it happened outside VP.

If I remember correctly, smoking is permitted in designated areas of football stadia, as long as that area is not covered.

    "inside the ground"

Couldn't find out on our website but they are on others and I've definitely heard or read somewhere.

    As examples

    https://rangers.co.uk/fans/following-rangers/smoking-policy/

    SMOKING POLICY

THE Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Prohibition of Smoking in Certain Premises (Scotland) Regulations 2006 state that no smoking is allowed in premises that are wholly or substantially enclosed.

As a result, the entire confines of Ibrox Stadium were deemed smoke-free since March 26, 2006.

This policy guarantees that all supporters, visitors and employees have the right to work and enjoy conditions free of tobacco smoke. Full details of this policy will be made available in the employee handbook and within Club correspondence. This will be reiterated via signage within the Stadium to inform supporters, visitors and employees of the smoke free status of the building.

Definition: Smoking is defined in this instance as smoking any tobacco products or the use of electronic smoking goods.

Please note – smoking is not permitted by supporters, visitors and employees in the following areas:

    • Offices/ work areas
    • Reception areas
    • Hospitality suites
    • Internal concourses
    • Corridors
    • External stadium seating area
    • Stairways
    • Food areas (either storage or preparation)
    • Rest rooms
    • Meeting rooms
    • Toilets
    • Entrances
    • Storerooms
Those who do not comply with the smoking policy will be subject to normal disciplinary procedures, liable to a fixed penalty fine and/or criminal prosecution as applicable.

Smoking may be permitted at the following locations:

    • Argyle House: Area to the rear of Argyle House Reception, underneath the Govan Stand adjacent to the loading bay
    • Broomloan House: Shelter will be provided at the corner of the entrance tower
    • Ticket Centre: Area to the side of the building – opposite Ibrox Business Park
    • Copland House: Shelter will be provided at the corner of the entrance tower
    • Superstore: Shelter provided at the corner of the Copland entrance tower
    • Main Stand: Areas at the bottom of the East and West Towers
    • Murray Park: The smoking shelter at the fenced area of the car park and nowhere else
It is the policy of this stadium not to allow the use of electronic cigarettes on the seating decks of the stadium, however signed designated areas are available in each stand and hospitality areas. If in doubt ask a steward for directions.

A supply of bins will be provided in these locations for disposal of cigarette ash.

Support and advice for smokers who want to stop smoking can be obtained by phoning the Smokeline on 0800 848 484 or by clicking here.

    https://www.mansfieldtown.net/club/safety/

    MATCHDAY SMOKING AREAS

Smoking areas are provided to the rear of the South (home support) and North (away support) Stands.

The areas are clearly marked with painted lines and appropriate signage. Sand buckets for discarded cigarette ends are provided in the area and we ask that supporters use them to avoid the need for additional housekeeping for grounds staff.

This smoking area is provided as a courtesy to supporters and therefore must be used responsibly.

This designated marked smoking area is also for the use of electronic cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes are not permitted to be used in any other part of the ground.

Any supporter who does not comply with this policy and:

    I. Smokes or uses an electronic cigarette in any area of the stands other than the designated marked smoking area
II. Fails to comply with requests from crowd safety stewards or any member of MTFC staff to only smoke or use an electronic cigarette in the designated marked smoking area will be ejected from the ground and given an appropriate ban.

    https://www.leedsunited.com/club/Matchday-guide

    SMOKING ZONES
The club operates a strict no-smoking policy within the concourse and seated areas of the stadium. Smoking Zones have been created within the North, North East, East, South East, and South Lower stands of the stadium, which are clearly signposted.

Smoking is only permitted in the designated Smoking Zones after kick-off. Electronic cigarettes and smoking implements are not permitted within the stadium.

As far as I am aware Rangers haven’t joined the EFL. The SPL probably have their own rule book
