I find linking the fire too someone setting off a flare when a goal has gone in as utterly bizarre

 

The majority of our supporters board are made up of a bunch of fannys, likely those happy clappers from the main stand. They make some good points occasionally, but are vocally righteous most of the time, and certainly don't represent my views

I often see recurring comments about us being fined. How many times, for the record, have we been fined for a pyro been let off at an away game exactly? Would be interesting to know

I get searched every game at VP, my handbag which normally has a phone, lipstick, and tissue. They must have a policy everyone gets searched regardless of gender, age or where you sit.

It was there against Hull in the cup Kev, amazing atmosphere that night for a small crowd.

 

I've never been called a fanny before Steve, I can assure you my match day experiance hasn't changed because I sit in the main stand, I've been know to have a few disagreements with fellow fans in the seats around me, I have mellowed a bit but if someone challenges my opinion I will reply in a similar manner .

Yeah. Its best they communicate it will be unreserved from the start though, so everyone know the score.

if it was unreserved at Villa Park and Stamford Bridge, when I had (through sheet chance) bagged great seats, I would have been gutted if I’d been forced into sitting on the extremity because we turned up late, though. Those clubs are maybe better set up with more stewards so can enforce it.

I very rarely do away days now - last one I remember was Barnsley away under Hopkin when POC was on loan. Being stuck in traffic after a horror display and another defeat killed off any enthusiasm to go away anymore.

Was only asking out of curiosity with my previous post really as not sure what the craic was these days.

The lads standing up used to do my head in. Sit down you c***s. There’s elderly and fans with kids who can’t see the game!

To these idiots who insist on standing up……How does standing up correlate to having a great atmosphere, lol!?

Makes no difference if you sit down or stand up as long as you are vocal. The height and size of the stand effect the acoustics and, along with the number of fans and numbers singing, are all that truly matters!

Those standing up are just inconsiderate.

As a side note, I NEVER join in with those ‘stand up, if you love City’ chants. Absolutely pointless!

i do appreciate there are a lot of kids on the powder these days and they prob have no idea what day of the week it is. Gone are the days of getting boozed up, they’re only bothered about gear these days. No awareness or consideration for anyone. Scary.

 

Carlisle got 900 tickets and smashed the place up. Everyone since has had 700 tickets and the front three rows have been covered up. The club has clearly taken the stance of no giving full allocations following that game.

The income from Bradford or Grimsby selling out a full end would easily pay for repairing the seats that were damaged by Carlisle so it seems to be decision take by the club to keep the lower capacity.

Also the police have decided on moving the game to 1pm for both games this season based on actions at both games last season.

 

You usually find with the big away followings at any level, the fans are predominantly stood up. Not saying it's right or wrong more an observation. I've only been to three away this season and all have had good followings where most were stood up. There is definitely a big difference in atmosphere when fans are stood as opposed to sat down and I know it van be tough in certain areas where some fans need/want to sit down.

 

Someone who just claps/talks well of the club and never criticizes, irrespective of how bad things get on and off the pitch!

 

Agree with your observation that it happens everywhere.

but i fail to see why standing up makes fans louder. It just so happens those standing up are the ones cheering loudest.

if they sat down and cheered it’d be just as loud.

fans going away, collectively, are louder than those at home. They are going for a day out and want to be there - unlike at home where many are reluctant attendees, because they have a season ticket and matchdays are a chore.

also, there is the embarrassment of having a large following but poor noise, so away fans feel more inclined to make a noise and ‘look good’.

people dont care at home and chat about all sorts with family and friends as our home efforts have been inferior to away ones this year!

 

Go back to when there was a choice and ask yourself why most noise at ground came from the standing areas behind the goals.

I haven't got a scientific answer but standing up definitely tends to generate the better atmosphere.
