Best away day I can remember for a long time. At last an atmosphere to match the following. Always gonna be idiots with that big a following but I'll take that all day long for an atmosphere like today.

That's not so. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the win. I can't stand all game, mainly due to an old knee injury from playing hockey, but we moved to a seat where I could see - the main point of the event.
The atmosphere did not require flares, vandalism, violence (stewards and police assaulted), drunkenness or drug taking.
It isn't whingeing to say these things are unwelcome. Fantastic atmosphere yes. The rest no.

Stewards and police assaulted?! I had a really good view from behind the goal near the back. The only violence I saw was when Cook scored and several police ran across and waded into the fans. One police officer in particular with a full on punch, the aggressiveness in his face was disgraceful. Just wish someone had it on tape. Make no wonder coppers get no respect from the general public

For the record that second half atmosphere was on a par with Stevenage. Although the decibel count was probably a few points above, and no doubt kickstarted the belief in the players. I honestly can’t believe we have fans whinging about louts and flares, when we just won a derby game which we would’ve definitely bottled last season. Get a fecking life you miserable sods

If the atmosphere is like that for the rest of the season at away games, then bring it on. Mansfield set off a few flares the other week at our place, it really is not unique to our fans.

I would love to see the end of scrotes in our support but to suggest yesterday was scary or anything but a good away day is pathetic. I've seen more issues at Racing, golf tournaments and my daughters gymnastics championships than what went on yesterday. I don't know how bantamsfamily survive they must shit themselves crossing the road.

I don't. My late Dad was always, to quote a modern phrase, "triggered" when he smelled one of those smoke bombs and I could see in his eyes where his head had gone. I know he's isn't/wasn't the only one either. But hey, why shouldn't some bog rats let them off off? It's all just fun (for them) right?
I'm just telling you the experience of someone who was in the midst of the Main Stand on the day and was lucky to get out alive. Someone who also saw some things which no one should ever have to see. If a smoke bomb brings all those memories back how can that be defended?

There are many of us still around from that day and there will be for decades to come. I'm 66 - I was 29 at the time, so there will have been thousands there younger than me. A ten year old kid then could potentially still have another 40+ years going to City matches. But, even 40 years hence, there's every chance that any sign of smoke or fire at a football ground will take them right back to that awful day.

I accept that the risk of fire or injury from the occasional pyro thrown by one of our coked-up idiots is pretty low in the scheme of things. But that's not the point. No one associated with this club should be disrespecting our history by chucking smoke bombs. To me it's as bad as opposition fans taunting us with chants about the fire. It simply shouldn't happen.

Let's just have like Valley Parade where 16,000 sit there like it's a trip to the theatre. Yesterday was rocking because it had that edge to it, the train station in Leeds was bouncing with city fans. There's a fine line sometimes between celebration and over exuberance but yesterday was exactly what an away end should be, one big party.

This debate is typical of the world today, namely people getting upset and shouty and all wobbly wokey because someone doesn't agree with their faux outraged view.

The way I see it, some naughty boy threw a flare and another kicked over a bin. It's not nice behavior, it wrong, but it's hardly on the same scale as putting invading Ukraine or Gary glitter abusing kids.

Aside from the obvious health risks and fine for the club to pay whenever our away fans let one off, they just look tacky and tinpot. We've seen it from a few teams at our ground and it just looks embarrassing. This isn't eastern europe where ultra groups organise pyrotechnic displays, these are just idiots letting off a canister of coloured smoke.

On a side note, isn't it about time sniffer dogs were deployed at the turnstiles? There were large numbers of people snorting white powder in the toilets, sometimes in view of kids.

I love a good atmosphere but does this really need to happen. Seems so easily avoidable too.

Where did I say it was right??

Get a grip. Fans know flares are going to be concentrated around one particular area. If you are so against it, or it effects your health, or you don’t like rowdiness or standing or a general atmosphere, then there are plenty of other seats out of the way you can watch from

Really fecking grinds my gears when folk piss and moan about away support. You have other options if you are uncomfortable with a certain element. This club is lucky to have such a loyal fan base, 3rd highest number of away fans in the EFL this weekend! SAVOUR IT

It is possible to appreciate a fantastic and special atmosphere the best of the season whilst decrying the stupid foolish idiots trying to spoil it

As an away fan, football is much, much safer now than the 80's regardless of the odd smoke bomb being thrown.

Pyrotechnics in the hands of drunken weed smoking Neanderthals shouldn't be used in sports stadia or any enclosed area in fact.
Users Stop been idiots and grow up before someone gets hurt permanently it's that simple.
We don't need coloured smoke to create an atmosphere.

The idiots were certainly out in force today. Coming out of the ground they were kicking dustbins around by the bar, large lumps of plastic flying everywhere. At half time they were swinging from the pipes and letting off flares on the concourse.
I felt very sorry for young children and the disabled who had little chance of seeing the match.
Took the edge off a good away game really.

Too many dickhead on these away days. Trips like this one are best avoided. Thing is you rarely see them at home games

Wonderful to hear such an amazing atmosphere which met the expectation given the large following. Such a shame it was soured by juvenile prats who can't hold their booze.

Been to many away days with a large Bradford following, where the atmosphere was great and didn't involve losers spoiling it.

Why is it weird to have a different opinion to someone else. Ain't on the windup either. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere today, a few boisterous individuals didn't spoil in any way the best atmosphere away for a long time.
