He talks about paying rent. I wonder how many clubs don't pay rent or a mortgage/loan for their ground.

Well it didn’t but we thought Sparks had done all the digging into Adams until he basically claimed he wanted us to be like Morecambe.

The issue is Sparks, he has no plan. No long term footballing strategy hence why we hire managers with totally different styles of play. Needs to stick to rugby or Speedway because he’s clueless about football.

Saying this though I hope he gets this appointment right.

Agree. We are getting what we pay for in many ways. If we paid our scouts and recruitment fees so that we are getting the best we could afford then there would be better results. I would do that at the expense of a couple of players. No sense of plan still. Alexander has to try and pull a team together out of our bloated squad. Why can’t a plan be put together that is realistic and achievable within timescales that both our finances and current squad players. This throwing everything to the dogs after a new manager arrives us soul destroying.

We still have no long term strategy at the club. Has it been decided whether we’re going to sign a new lease, buy the ground back or move to another stadium? With no word from the owner on this, will he be off as soon as his valuation has been met, even though that hasn’t been confirmed by him. That leaves us in a state of limbo. What is the long term plan for this club beyond the next season? Do we just keep regressing until there’s nothing left. Adams might have been deluded but he’s said a lot of the points raised on this board day in day out. We’re now beginning to see players and managers turn away from us because having a large fanbase and big stadium isn’t the be all and end all. Maybe Sparks and Rupp are also deluded if they think that’s the way to build a solid foundation for a club, a club for the future.

    Sign a new lease.

building from scratch is too expensive, and time consuming
Purchasing current ground would not increase the value of the club by the cost involved
Moving , no where else available

I know, it's so frustrating that we don't have any continuity of thought when it comes to our approach. Maybe we'll get lucky this time but even if we do, there'll be no plan for succession when GA eventually leaves and we'll be right back to square 1 with a full rebuild and a complete change of direction under a new manager.

"The Scot won just nine of his 37 games"

Must be great to be reffered to as Scot. feck sake.

Shite record though, tried to Morcambe us into League 1 and it didnt work.

We were fecked when ITV digital collapsed and Gibbs took the ground. Thats 20 oddyears.
We got left behind, and we'll never catch up. luck of the draw.

Of cause it increases the value of the club because it’s an asset and ours meaning increased commercial income and more money to spend on players due to FFP rules.

Like you, I hope we get lucky this time but if we do, it will be more by accident than design. But then like you say when GA does eventually move on, we will be back to square one again with no real direction of where we go next. It's so frustrating.

Clearly he didn’t do his homework when applying for the job, he knew the ground was rented and he knew we train at a school. Says a lot about the fellow when he brings up exactly the same topic as those with an axe to grind……

Who exactly owns Morecambe’s ground anyway?

    Morecambe F.C.
    Full name Morecambe Football Club
    Ground Mazuma Mobile Stadium
    Capacity 6,476 (2,247 seated)
    Coordinates 54.0615°N 2.8672°W
Owner Bond Group Investments Limited (80% maj. shareholder)

Strange he didn’t compare us to another club I could name that couldn’t afford to play payers wages and obtained a suspended points deduction.

The current owners claim the club is for sale at …………..£20m!

Apparently a 20 year old “entrepreneur” was in talks to buy the club

    Such is Dereks deluded life.

A lot of posters make comments about lack of a long term strategy, not owning the ground (despite at least 5 Premiership clubs being in a comparable situation), etc.
Can anyone provide a list of League 1 and 2 clubs that have a clearly defined strategy? In particular Direct links to documents which actually set these plans out, rather than what they ‘think’ the situation is? Just paste and copy the link so we can have a read and discuss.

You'd have to be pretty daft to post online your plan, showing all your competitors how you're going to do it.
    Those documents will be confidential.

Apparently Morecambes ground is owned by a ‘financier’ who is a former director of Morecambe and is one business in his portfolio. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/oXu2N4IBW63t6NDZbyzzGTdFf40/appointments

Seems comparable to Valley Parade being owned (although it is the company pension fund rather than the individual as l understand it) by a former director!

That’s one excuse Hudders. Look at the recent one Stockport posted. All well and good until they have a season or two of “no progress” and it falls apart. There’s no plan to cover “failure” or adverse times, which let’s face it , WILL happen, to what 75% of clubs in any division. Succession in football isn’t a given, plan or no plan.
On paper it looked good , however the devil is in the detail, or lack of.

What amazes me is that apparently a few fans do not want to know the plan for the club going in forward and a strategic 10 year plan. We seem to be floating along on a season by season plan, which in my view encourages “let’s start again” approach. I get all the business sensitivity that is required, but you don’t have to publish the detail, an overall plan of improvement and set backs and how we intend to deal with both.

I'd say so far he's been correct no matter what us fans think about Uncle Derek.

    Couple of very simple questions.
Which club is currently top of League Two?
Who owns the ground of the top club in League Two?

I would think as with any other business money is put aside for the likes of the up keep of the ground, how does he know the new seating came out of his player budget if that's what he intermating, I was under the impression they were part of a sponsorship deal, maybe @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler could tell us.
