    Interesting!

Next it will be we train at a school ffs!

Adams is just what we need but I can see clashes along the way.

He isn’t going to dance about like some on here. He is going to tell it how it really is!

He basically said promotion takes priority and only kids that are good enough will get a chance. Those not ready wont be used to develop them in important matches.

Find me any fault in those two statements?

Finn Cousin Dawson plays tonight. A chance to make a claim as a squad member or I see another RB coming in.

They’ll be clashes for sure but the aim is to get promoted and as long as that happens this season all is fine.

However, if not it could be a massive mess.

If I am a Staunton for example I am getting my agent to get me the f*ck out of here.

The young lads might as well leave.

Adams makes it clear that he sees the youngsters as cover within the squad he has assembled.

If Staunton, or FCD, for example:, get called up to cover, it's up to them to take their chance and prove they are better than the player they are covering, to give them chance of staying on the side

If we go on a bad run (not that we want that) then get your popcorn out because Adams won’t take any sh&te from Sparks, Rupp or the players.

If this club needs to improve he will tell those concerned to sort it. None of this excuses or acceptable bollocks that you hear on here.

Most of the youngsters that have been sold in recent years and made us good money never even played for the first team, I'm thinking Wisdom, Cleverley etc and McBurnie barely got a chance under Parky either

Staunton didn’t sign a 3 year or whatever it was to cover mate. He signed it as a 1st team member of the squad. He’s already been told he’s not been seen as a CB and wasn’t in the match day squad at the weekend.

I understand what you are saying about it’s up to them to take their chance when it comes along but that will only happen if injuries happen mainly. Staunton could play tonight for example but if all is fit he isn’t starting on Saturday that’s the impression I get.

We’re a div 2 club and I agree with Adams but for the youth players I wouldn’t be hanging about. I would rather join an Exeter like Adams mentioned because I would want to play football WEEKLY!

I'm pretty sure this isn't as big a deal as some are making out. Adams comments about the young lads that were offered their first professional contracts this season were very positive, Sparks has said we are not done yet in the transfer market. Given we have a squad of 24 now, that suggests to me that there will have to be a couple of departures to bring a couple more in. Sending a few of the young lads out on loan would be beneficial to them and to the club.
Adams comments weren't him saying he is against the development of young players, just that it can't be done to the detriment of what the club are trying to achieve on the pitch. I'm pretty sure Sparks will be in full agreement with that.

I think the Exeter comment was a bit harsh. They've been well in the promotion picture for the last few years but have managed to bottle it late on. I'm not sure you can attribute that failure to their commitment to play and develop the youngsters. From the outside looking in, I think their biggest issue is not reinvesting what they're receiving. For example, they sold Randall for 1m and have only managed to sign Amond on loan as of yet. Maybe if they reinvested those fees as well as developing their youngsters they may get over the line.

With regards to us, he's right about our youngsters. For me, only Staunton is good enough and the others need a loan move to play regular games. But I do fear for Staunton because I don't think he's going to get much game time at all this season.

If the performance matches the occasion on Saturday then I think many people young and old will rediscover what it is we love about football. Can’t wait

I see what you mean D, however I do get the honesty of Adams. He has been given a priority, perhaps over two seasons(?) of promotion, nothing else will do. There is absolutely no barrier to stop the young lads footballing development outside the main squad but not within our existing set up.There are some good National League sides out there as we all know. They can’t develop within our first team as “time” is of the essence , and as we have no recognised reserve set up as we once knew it, the best option to give them experience with “ men” would be the National Leagues.

Take Mc Burnie….. a footballing talent even at 17/18/ but as we saw during Parkie’s reign, he was chucked in the first team, as cover for the injured Jim far too early. Imho that did him no good in the short term. Thankfully he recovered well enough for Swansea to move in. “Thrown in” one year later than as was the case may have seen his full development at BCAFC ?

They will do fine in the National Leagues as there are some wiley old characters in there who will show them what it’s all about.

They’re an interesting one Exeter, but if you look at their last 10 years with the money they’re brought in then I don’t think it’s harsh at all. Would any of our fans accept their last 10 years so we could see a few youngsters come in and get sold on for big money? I don’t know all their situation, but considering they never keep their talent for long then I’d suggest they probably are forced to sell quickly I imagine their academy has a far higher running cost than ours, I don’t see at this level unless an owner is will to foot a lot of the bill how an expensive academy and a quality first team is sustainable. I think all our fans bar none will but promotion above youth development. If Sparks and Rupp want both it’ll cost. I remember people on C & B waxing lyrical of Colchester’s youth development when we were both in league 1, again didn’t end well! The evidence tells me you can’t have both of you want to become a championship club, which I’d hope is where we want to be.

What happened to the so called wonder kid right back on Saturday?. He couldn’t cross to save his chuffing life, from my observations, even some of their forum members were underwhelmed.

A one off game is one thing, but did we get a glimpse? I didn’t.

    We’ve agreed plenty of times.

However, let’s make out it’s once and we don’t get along lol

Andy O'Brien was 17/18 when he broke into a team getting promoted to the Premier League.

Same situation. He developed because he was good enough.
