Derek Adams, his management, tactics & squad options

When I say intense there weren't tackles flying in left right and center, it was mostly ball control taking a quick pass and in return playing the simple pass but doing it quickly looked the basis of the routine, unlike Jake Reeves being given minutes to make a forward pass Tuesday night.
You would think if Adams does want us super fit he realises it has to be gradual, I would expect his backroom staff to make that clear to their gaffer, after all that's what they will be judged on as the season progresses.

 

Opsss, yes Threlkeld rather than Ridehalgh I hope I'll be able to name the correct team before the end of the season.

 

Adams has been clear in the past about his belief that a club only wins in the opposition's last 18 yards. However you get it there, that's where he wants the ball to be, quick sharp. If people want to call that route one, then it looks bloody exciting these days!

 

They looked a good side getting wide and playing plenty of balls into the 6'5" Oli Hawkins although it depends which article you read another's saying 6'6" he was always a threat and his half volley was a good strike for a big lad controlled it well and struck it low into the far corner.

 

Dave, you'll get there well before Andy Kiwomya learns how to pronounce Threlkeld and Ridehalgh!

 

Doesn't mean we have to listen to his diatribe to get one good post.

 

I think Adams will be good for us but I just don't see him here beyond 2-3 seasons no matter how successful we are in that time.

 

If he takes us the championship in that time he can go with our blessing and thanks.

 

That is my concern too. So far so good and a long way to go, but if he continues in this vein then any number of clubs below the championship could tempt him away. I’m hoping he can take us to the championship and decide to stay on, then see how it goes.

 

Done a hell of a job to create that in just 5 games when the previous 8 were just training/fitness matches.

 

No nonsense guy that has instilled a hard working ethos in the players who are fit and want to win. Like him a lot.

 

Without doubt if he gets the results we're all wanting it will get him in the spotlight for other clubs to make an approach, it will be interesting to see if we do well under him will Stefan financially support him going forward, I get what Ryan is saying about generating finance from outside sources but if we are looking for Championship football initially the finance has to come from Stefan, if it is I could see him being around for the challenge to get us there.

 

Love what he has done so far. I like listening to his interviews, equally honest, forthright and measured. He comes across as a football obsessive with a winning mentality.

I'm still waiting to see or hear the dour, boring style we were told to expect from some.

As others have said, he reminds me of Parky, and hopefully he is as good a fit to our club as Parky was, and delivers some similar success.

Oh, and so far, certainly doing much better than a few fans first choice Richie Wellans, who has got off to a nightmare start at Donny

 

Do wonder if that was down the the quality of players he has had previously. I mean vernam is a monster now. we've been begging for a winger like that and look at him. that goal against Mansfield Christ.

And I also wonder if the same can be said of Donny too. it happened to Stuart too, his second stint was really good (when he had one of the best squads in the league) but his third was poor.
