Yes I agree we need back up for Hendrie and I think the other 2 would be wing backs rather than full backs. Much as we would love it, we are not going to have L1 / Championship quality players on big wages for every position

If we have an unlimited budget and no financial restraints I would agree. But unless I'm wrong that isn't the case so we can't afford the best player in league 2 for every position. And by the way I think he held his own last year in his position.
But since you bring up the question of the right hand side, I thought our best combo there last year was Sutton at RB with Gilly in front of him, but I think that only happened for half a game.

Sorry but I have to disagree on Songo'o. I think he probably will play. This was a new partner for him at CB and they were playing against a team who have just come down from the Championship, and may not have done they not had a points deduction.

The first part we may disagree , but I do have a small inkling I know what Derby’s history is . They are a mid table CC team playing against our back up defence . It’s as simple as that really.

Forsyth was with us for seven games on loan . Can’t say I remember him at all!

Imho Hendrie is back up only , but yes the rest we agree on . All fullbacks on show yesterday were poor and that is being kind.

If Hendrie was to be first choice RB then what is there in reserve……That’s the worry!!

Not sure that's true. It was clear that neither Platt and Songo'o had played together. Neither knew who was following which player or covering which area. It takes time for a centre back pairing to work well together. If those two are first choice they will need more matches to get used to each other!

I do agree it is a worry and I think yesterday will have shown MH he needs to address it, unless he is thinking a back 3

I think we would all like better, in several positions but are in League 2 and have built up a good squad so far. Having said that perhaps my memory is going so can you help me out here, since Hendrie joined us on what occasions has he personally let us down?

Hi Kev. Not arguing here but serious question. What constitutes a successful cross? I thinking for example, a player can hit a great, low, near post cross but none of the strikers make the near post run. Is that a success or not? Likewise a peach of a high cross but the striker mistimes his jump?

My post was a reply to someone who was talking about Hendrie letting us down, it's as simple as that.

Surely you don’t want me to explain a successful cross?

One that beats the first defenders, one that doesn’t go straight into the keepers hands with forwards nowhere in sight, one that doesn’t sail over the dead ball line, one that doesn’t go into touch. Ridehalgh is far better crosser of the ball compared to Hendrie.

I gave 2 examples and asked if they are successful crosses or not. i'll give you a 3rd. A player gets to the line and pulls a ball back and it runs right across the six yard box? Successful cross or not?

A cross is only as good as the timing of the runs into the box to get on the end of those crosses. It's as simple as that.

I've slept and drank a lot since last season but if you like I'll come on after each game this season when he does and tag you in a description of his performance.
