Depends what idea's the new bloke has. If he wipes clean the last 2+ years and looks at where we were as a club and works from there as a start then I guess he'd be given the chance. Massive rebuild job, loads of bridges to build and essentially don't make promises that you can't keep.

I didn't really have a bad thing to say about Grayson and I don't have a bad thing to say about Hopkin either.
Given proper responsibility and resources either would be good managers for us (so would McCall in fact).

I don't blame most of the players either; if they're being the best they can be, and it's not good enough I have no animosity towards them.

I've supported BCAFC for over 30 years and that's never going to change. Of course we all want our club to do well.

There's little we can do to rectify the disastrous dismantling of a good squad until Jan.

I think Edin has a "stay of execution" until January. And when I say January I mean the 2nd of January.
If we're as "well prepared" as we were last Jan we've had it.
IMHO Edin has one last chance to atone for the appalling transfer dealings.
We need to spend BIG and when I say WE, I don't mean the Club I mean the OWNERS; it's their fault we're in this mess and they should be held personally responsible.

Well you cant believe what you've written in your above post then, I've seen most games and apart from the Sunderland game (where I enjoyed the cross fans banter as much as the game) I have found the product on the pitch to be very poor.
Or maybe I'm just hard to please .

I agree, and I also just end up thinking of the team we had, while watching the crap we've assembled because of one man's small minded insecurity.

I've already explained I don't feel any connection to the club and don't like the players, why are you mindlessly commenting with silly one line answers?

Apologies if that sounds mean, but on the one hand you're saying "Don't engage them you can't win" (which is a bit weird in itself), then you're basically unable to let an honest opinion go without a bit of needle.

Maybe your anger should be directed to those who sold us down the river in the first place. They obviously didn’t carry out their due diligence and establish the intentions of the new owners before collecting their 30 pieces of silver.

With any new owner there’s no guarantee, the next lot could even be worse. What we need is the current ownership to put things back to how they were, by investing in quality but balancing the books at the same time. I’d hate for the boom and bust to return.

 

Jon, there's noting to sympathise about....this is what debating is about....BUT...i have got an issue with "I KNOW FOR A FACT"....i think your just seeing it as black and white and thats fine but there's much more than meets the eye and i'm not willing to hang myself out to dry just because i read it on social media.

If you think last seasons team was ok then i think you were watching different football to me because i certainly wasn't surprised by its monumental slump. Jon, i also didn't hear anyone arguing with the recruitment for this season UNTIL they started playing shit.....there were plenty of happy people leaving Shrewsbury after the first game.

Here's my take on season tickets........Remember when Colin Todd was in charge? Poeple were fine with that shite but he took us down, i personally missed 3 games because i couldn't stand the brand of football AND had a rolled up TODD out Banner in my coat which i bottled out of unfurling. Would it stop me buying a season ticket...f*** no and the owners shouldn't influence you either.

As for these guys putting it back to how they were, that seems a little naive. There is no going back, Parky won't return, Stuart won't work for those dopes, they either leave or find a formula.

I’m not suggesting, as you well know, that we bring any of the other managers back, just the formula that worked so well before.

 

but it's not is it. it's not just 'advice' - I'm not sure, to a hardcore Bradford City fan of many years, that it's possible to just concentrate on whats in front of you. for example, if we play as shit as we have been, or concede a poor goal, or players appear to not be trying, then what do we do then? we can't just ignore that, we start to ask ourselves why we're shit, or why the players aren't trying, and then when we do that we then ask ourselves why we're bottom of the league and not getting results.

you can't just concentrate on the game. we're concentrating on Bradford City football club. as a whole. and the answer to all the questions we ask ourselves when City are shit on a match day are all the same...

Last season's team wasn't exactly great, letting McArdle go basically set us back two years and counting - that's how bad we've been in terms of recruiting a replacement. And Rory, gotta love him, isn't exactly irreplaceable.

But, at least we had Stuart getting that lot in the play offs.

Let's face it, it's been consistent, unstoppable regression. Every player that's left (virtually) has been replaced by someone worse. We've overhauled the side from last season and we are atrocious, the worst (relative to the division in terms of losses) team in the English Football League.

And, also, I was voicing my concerns throughout the Summer, unfortunately. The recruitment never looked good even on paper.

 

I agree with you almost word for word on this. He's bought himself enough time from me to get to the transfer window but it's got to be a good window, if it's another shambolic month for recruitment then I'll probably be swelling the ranks of the protesters come February.

I think I'll let him have a few days longer than your 2nd Jan deadline but I still believe that the lack of activity early in the last January window that left McCall limping on wthout any full backs was a bigger factor in our slump than the failure to land Dennis at the death so a similar strategy will be unacceptable to me.

 

How can you invest in quality AND balance the books? Its either one or the other. I guess you can invest in the short term in quality players and hope that pays for itself in the long term by being promoted to a higher level and then selling these players for a profit on the back of this. Our cheap season tickets are our only real source of income and it doesn't go far.
