Let's not paint the former owners in too good a light Lawn wasn't averse to telling managers who to play. Peter Taylor put the spotlight on that in a TV interview when he described how Lawn used to insist on seeing the team sheet so he could make his own 'suggestions' which McCall confirmed. And it was Lawn who brought Andy Gray back to the club because he'd liked him when when he was here previously. And that was against Parky's advice. As ML said 'It's my effing club and I'll have who I want effing playing here'. Rahic isn't alone in interfering in playing matters, although he does appear to have taken it to a new level.

Hopkin strikes me as a very different kind of manager to either Collins or McCall. I can't imagine for one moment that he will put up with a chairman who interferes in playing matters .. too much! I've said on another thread that if Rahic wants to continue with his level of involvement in playing matters, Hopkin won't be here too long.

 

And that is the one positive I'm taking from this recent change.

Either Edin has made this appointment knowing he'll have to back off, or .............(light the blue touch paper and retire).....

 

Supporters are right to be concerned with the way the club is being managed and its decline on and off the pitch over the last 12 months or so. And supporters are at liberty to express their views however they believe appropriate imo. The owners might not want to hear the criticisms but in my view they are more than justified.

But recently things do seem to have changed and become more organised. It looks to me as though fuel is deliberately being poured onto the fire. I don't believe it's a coincidence that there has been the recent article written by a former YP journo in the Daily Star from a very knowledgable 'club source', the Dewhirst article in the T&A, the sudden release of an old confidential email from a club ambassador to Rahic, the Banter lads changing their stance on Rahic and coupled with some strange comments on Twitter from the former COO. It's as though there is some kind of co-ordinated activity to further undermine Rahic (which he's quite capable of doing himself!) whilst at the same time applauding the past work of the COO. I'm no conspiracy theorist but these things don't look as though they are some spontaneous reaction to a set of circumstances which have been ongoing for at least 12 months. Why have they suddenly all come into the public domain now?
