I can't see 4-4-2 working with our current crop of midfielders so I hope he lines up with something like this:

    -------------O'Donnell------------------

    Mellor---Everton--Paudie--Wood

    -----------------AOC-------------------

    ----Devitt----Palmer----Cooke---

    ------Vaughan--Donaldson----

Drop Devine, Akpan, Gibson and Scannell who aren't/haven't been good enough, play AOC as a holding midfielder and give Devitt , Palmer and Cooke a license to attack.

That doesn't look far off 4-4-2. I'd be happy with that. But I suspect it might be too sensible for GB.

Crewe obviously struggle with skilful, pacy, attacking midfielders!

Now we just need our versions of Grealish and Hourihane to tear them apart Saturday!

I expect the overall turnout will be good; the expats-in-attendance count is certainly rising -- Canada (me), UAE...any others?

I like your 3-5-2 lineup, but I agree that it is unlikely to happen. Alas.

Bowyer would have to release the shackles and allow the fullbacks to attack otherwise we'll have the same problems of lack of service and crosses to the front two.

I'm not sure Mellor would benefit, his best work has been plodding, long ball stuff - I'm not criticising him, but he's better crossing from deep or hoofing towards Donaldson, like he did for the goal against Oldham.

Wood simply needs to be played in midfield - and since Cooke is not fully fit yet in Bowyer's eyes, I'd be happy to see him pushed forward in that particular formation.

They actually had a different keeper tonight - 1 of only 4 changes from their game a few days ago. This bodes well for us and just hope we can take full advantage. Do the right thing GB and entertain those of us that will be there

It probably just means Jaaskelainen returns, and he's only conceded 3 in 4.

Devitt and Cooke could split when we're in possession with AOC stepping into a more natural CM role before dropping back and the wide men tucking back in when we lose the ball.

Either that, or like you say, the full back provide the width and AOC drops in to make it 3 centre halves who can shuffle across if a full back gets caught high up the pitch.

The team seems to have balance and most importantly gets our two strikers playing in tandem where they will hurt teams st this level.

That’s the team I want to see, we don’t have the personnel to play 4 4 2 and we need to get Paudie in the team. Anthony O’ Conner has played this role before. Devitt will get goals in an attacking midfield role.

    Unfortunately it will be:

    OD
    Mellor Everton OC Wood
    Akpan Devine Palmer
    Gibson Vaughan Donaldson

Bench: Devit, Scannell, Cooke, , Longbridge, Paudie, Patrick

Seems to be a lot of us want a 5-3-2 or 4-1-3-2 with Paudie in and O'Connor sitting. (I suggested this at the end of last season while NKP was still here.) It would let Wood and Mellor push up a bit more to bang crosses in and give Devine, Gibson and Palmer more support and options so they look better. However, times move on and I'm quite happy for it to make Cooke and Devitt look better, too. Will we see it, though? Get your best players on the pitch in a balanced formation that suits them. We're Bradford City - why would we do that!?

Won’t be scannell starting this weekend. Been ill all week according to Parker. Ismail back training, although probs a week too soon for him to start. Intrigued to see what he can offer this season though

I wouldn't be changing the back 5 as they look pretty solid.

The problem is midfield. I think we'll play 5 again, especially away against a side above us.
