    Too many holes mate.

The people of furlough are not allowed to work and more than likely will be made redundant or let go if this lockdown drags longer than May/June.

Self Employed money not until June.

    Oh and this

Concerns remain over the number of ventilators and the speed at which more can be purchased. There are currently 8,000 available and another 8,000 said to be arriving in the next few weeks. Stefan Dräger, the head of ventilator manufacturer Drägerwerk, told German magazine Der Spiegel that the number of intensive care beds in England per capita was lower than Italy and five times lower than in Germany. “The challenge in England will be greater than in Spain,” he warned.

    From the guardian

So we need more beds and NHS need to be ready.

Hi mate. Hope all is well where you are. Was in Nashville last summer - brilliant City. Everyone’s working from home - and only leaving their homes to go food shopping/for a bit of exercise. As of now don’t believe that’s due to law though only because it’s been advised.

    UK has 17,000 confirmed cases

New york has 52,000 confirmed cases

In one paper I think the express it says we may be able to limit deaths here to under 7000 if we stick to what we are doing

New York have tested a lot more people. There are thousands of people with mild symptoms in this country who haven’t been tested

It’s some strategy from the government. Don’t test people and give the impression that we’ve got it under control.

And it could be just hay fever.

But yeah the lack of testing in the UK is starting to become a little embarrassing.

Speaking to my mum last night and she said it's the case. Driving down results.

Also she said over 70's are knockered if they get this strongly because the mentality has always been they will die soon anyway and if it's a decision between saving them and say a 50 year old then the 50 year gets the decision.

In terms of the NHS money has been spent wrongly over the years. 1 class business flights, go away on holiday come back new beds then by the weekend changed again. Money wasted.

Staff not paid enough and no real recruitment drive.

    The government haven't supported them.

They know we haven't got the resources and unfortunately people will die but we have all go back to work, so you just have to hope if you get it you don't get a strong but says to over 70's is to stay inside until a vaccine is found! Over 70's life won't be the same for the next 12-18 months.

It's always been the case mate just it doesn't come out until now.

This is one of the reason I want to hear end plans in a situation like this because life at this moment isn't fair to people going out this way. Not able to see family & friends etc. No one allowed near them. That's just grim. Seems worse than the war days.

Covid-19 patients in UK intensive care have 50% survival rate

Findings of new report raise concerns about how effective new facilities will be

The high death rate raises questions about how effective critical care will be in saving the lives of people struck down by the disease. As a top priority, the NHS is opening field hospitals in London, Birmingham and Manchester, which will incorporate some of the biggest critical care units ever seen in Britain.

“The truth is that quite a lot of these individuals [in critical care] are going to die anyway and there is a fear that we are just ventilating them for the sake of it, for the sake of doing something for them, even though it won’t be effective. That’s a worry,” one doctor said.

The report also found that though the majority of those who have died from coronavirus across the UK were over 70, nine of the 79 who died in intensive care were aged between 16 and 49, as were 28 of the 86 who survived.

The audit suggested that men are at much higher risk from the virus – seven in ten of all ICU patients were male, while 30% of men in critical care were under 60, compared to just 15% of women. Excess weight also appears to be a significant risk factor; over 70% of patients were overweight, obese or clinically obese on the body mass index scale.

See @Park bantam@Park bantam its always been the case. Just that staff now talk about how it really is.
Call it a knackers yard but the country has nearly always operated this way.

I want normality for everyone and hopefully it will come sooner rather than later.

This report doesn’t mention the fact that whatever the age the vast majority of the fatalities had underlying health problems.

It's stuff like this that has made me glad I don't read main stream media anymore. Stopped with the TV after the constant obsession with death rates, I swear theyre one step away from a drum roll before they announce it. Photos in the media of empty shelves, people fighting over toilet rolls etc, let's be honest the media are loving this they can't get enough of it.

    100% mate. Grim reading.

I agree I do think the press are loving this. You can tell because they seems to be no push for normality in anyway. Everything, seems acceptable in the way people act and they seem to just want to push a weak Boris in to doing more action instead of just letting him lead.

7000? I highly doubt that. Unless we start to fudge the numbers. Let’s see the tube again in the morning and how many people are crammed into it

One thing I would like to know is how many people are, if any, dying because intensive care beds are taken to treat this virus? Maybe we are not quite there yet but this time next week we could be

I'd had been told similar yesterday, not too good for us oldies if we contact it, but quite understandable to try and save young lives although reading today 50 and above are now falling into a similar group not as critical as us oldies but a cause for concern they say. My family are staying away not easy when my youngest daughter lives next door but were all doing as the government ask, we have a family group running on facebook and are speaking via WhatsApp.

Yeah wasn't try to scare you or anything mate. Just warning you mate..

Thing is with this the lockdown doesn't matter. Unless we do a worldwide lockdown for 12-18 months it makes no difference because like China are finding out you can go about your business, travel then still get it.

So if the lockdown down ends in 3-12 weeks nothing will change in the fact people can still catch it and spread, so my advice for over 70's is still indoors until hopefully a vaccine is found.

Think in China, the over 65's are not allowed on public transport or at mass gatherings now and the UK will more than likely do the same.

This is all too grim no matter what and we need little light now.

Always seems with Boris it's positive then next day negative.
