I just don't see any reason why Cedar Court for example can't offer their hotels for free to NHS and key workers.

I don't think the staff with the virus will be wanting to swim in the swimming poor and wanting a dirty dance with me in the ballroom.

Hotels and conferences places in Yorkshire need to step up.

So the first offical death due to Corona in Bradford area was announced today. She died in Airedale on Thursday but I have just seen a post on Facebook from someone who has lost their mum and dad in past 24 hours as well, so that would be 3.

 

Very sad @Storck it was my grand daughters best friend, her granddad was in hospital with cancer although he was on the virus ward, her grandma was at home when her dad went to see his mother she was still a alive but unfortunately he could not resuscitate his mother, terrible news

 

My wife is a key worker and travels from Keefly to Bradford -she doesnt need a hotel room. Why are you obsessed with Cedar Court/any one else providing rooms for worker who do not need it? We are not London.

 

Someone I know has lived in China for a while and he couldn't believe the differences from there to what UK currently do. Thought it was interesting:

1) You can’t go out without a mask on. Although this is slightly uncomfortable, I agree with this policy. I don’t care if there is research saying that it’s not totally effective. It certainly doesn’t do any harm. If anything, it reduces the chances of you giving the disease to others so please just do it out of respect.

2) Every establishment (e.g. shops, supermarkets etc.) checks your temperature when you enter. You then write down your name and phone number. This allows the authorities to track down who you have been in contact with if you get diagnosed with the virus.

3) No shopping baskets or trolleys that have been touched by hundreds of people scavenging for bog roll. We take our own bags.

Point 2 & 3 are massive and should be done here. Boris is too woolly with all this.

Why can't we all go to work up here then if we're not London.

What we should be doing is getting ready and making sure we have the beds etc just in case.

We're in this mess because we were too slow, let's learn.

 

Just in case for what exactly? The roads are clear. What is stopping a key worker or NHS worker from getting home after a shift?

Yorkshire needs to be ready.. no point doing this lockdown up here if it's all London. Should of just shut London down when I called it weeks ago.

If an NHS worker is infected they self isolate. Why the drama of asking Cedar Court etc to supply beds?

 

All I want is Yorkshire to be ready.

Looking at around approx 19k more deaths and we don't know where they're going to come from but we need to give people the best chance with equipment, beds etc ready because the lack of resources is one of the reasons why people are not getting though this.

You know the saying about failing to prepare.. this is what the government did in February. Lets learn from that in Yorkshire.and help to reduce numbers.

Fordy, you've been banging on all week about how the priority is the economy, how it wont kill that many and how we just need to crack on as normal in a couple of weeks. If that's your view, fair enough. But dont pretend you really give a monkeys about the death toll for Yorkshire or anywhere else.

However, we do need to try to get back to some normality soon.

The economy and people's businesses are important let's not kid ourselves here. I was out in the Merc yesterday and I saw loads self employed business working.

Unfortunately, the government hasn't said nobody pays any bills for a year. So people have to work.

 

Approx 19k more deaths is nothing but an estimate or a good result a top doctor called it. We don’t know it will stop at 20k total deaths
