I would think in these times that would be a very reasonable solution.

On school attendance, I know that schools in Manchester have been told that absence since the February half-term will be discounted in terms of pupil attendance. I would assume that this direction came from the Department of Education.

Genuinely thought this was post was meant to be funny. Grass collection? Are you serious. At a time like this, you’re worried about grass collection.

Actually, I WAS taking the piss. I thought it was obvious tbh, but either i’m losing my touch, or everyone really is losing their grip on reality.

Grass collections, school attendances, MOTs. Who gives a sh*t about any of that right now.

My point was basically that people need to adopt more responsibility for their own decisions and movements on the basis of the wider social need, and in the context of the biggest problem this country has faced since WW2 - not expect the government to make a provision every possible circumstance in the lives of 60m+ people.

Apologies. I did think to myself it could well be a joke.

The second part about the school trip got me a bit though - I would imagine there's a few of these situations out there causing stress to parents who have lost jobs etc. Hence why I thought you might actually be serious.

Fair point, I can see why you thought that.

I do think that at least trying to keep a bit of humour about the place is more important than ever, but it's a strange world and we're probably all reading certain things the wrong way or more sensitive than we'd normally be.

And right you are. With all the concern about avoiding illness, we shouldn't lose sight of remembering to live.

Oh, and put yer grass clippings on the compost heap, or flower beds, or vegetable patch!:)

For me, it was the grass collection, which actually is a pretty serious issue for many of us.

    Also, dog fouling.

    I assume you've never attended a council meeting in a Conservative-voting Parish?

    And here it starts.

    BA will be next.

We need to get back to work ASAP.

Childline call numbers doubling every week... getting to a point already that the government needs to make a decision. This can't go on longer than 2 weeks.

Dream on Fordy. In 2 weeks we won’t have even reached the peak.

We can't be in lockdown for more than 2 weeks.

    Self employed will be knackered

Large companies like Virgin will be knackered

Children won't be able to cope.

Get real. Nearly a thousand dying a day in Italy at the minute. A thousand a day!

The childline thing is sad but this all shows me when we are out of this we must as a nation invest heavily in the public services these type of people rely on. The police, NHS, social care etc etc. Everything that has been decimated needs to be put back.

However I can see everyone paying to keep big business afloat and we will see cutbacks
