Maybe so. But the numbers of unvaccinated people dying from Covid is many, many times the proportion of vaccinated people dying from complications. So if anything would be 'scaremongering' then making a big deal of the tiny proportion of vaccine complications would fit that particular bill.
Vaccines are saving millions of lives around the world. But we've already seen how any suggestion of risk, however miniscule, can have massive effects on take-up rates, far out of proportion to the actual risks.

I don't mind the reporting of those occurrences at all. Using an apparently young and fit vaccine sceptic as an example of what could happen is an appropriate warning of the implications of not getting the jab.

Give me those stories over the coercion and exclusion from society that is being played out in other parts any day.

Or it could drop further due to schools being off.

I guess the real comment is we don't know.

Even in the press conferences they were speaking of 100k cases per day.

It might have dropped due to the 650k people that were pinged to isolate, plus those that were called by Track and Trace, and then probably 300k that were isolating due to positive tests, then the rest of their households. All in probably 3m isolating.

Do you reckon it would be that many? I'd kinda figured some crossover between the ones pinged by the app and the ones called by T&T but maybe not?

Still, I woukdntbhave expected taking just 5% of the population out of circulation would have had such an immediate effect but maybe?

Might be the way to do it. Everyone has to spend 1 week in 20 in isolation?

It's very far from an isolated problem in the USA:

The government apparently planning to ban unvaccinated students from attending University lectures and residing in halls. Disgraceful stuff.

Today's confirmed cases are under 25k, Last Monday was 40k as a day for day comparison.

    Saturday, Sunday, Monday last week - 54.7k, 48.2k, 40k.
    Saturday, Sunday, Monday this week - 31.8K, 29.2k, 25k.

I wonder if those trashing the government for removing restrictions last week will be still banging on that is was the wrong action to take?

I'm not going to get too giddy about it yet - especially when there doesn't seem to be a concrete logical explanation for the drop but it's looking weirdly positive.

Wonder what Independant SAGE and the Twitter know it alls are going to say if this carries on?

Probably too early to gauge the impact of removing restrictions. However, it does - once again - make a mockery of the SAGE predictions. More importantly, it indicates that the peak of waves is now manageable from a healthcare perspective given the combination of vaccine rollout and naturally acquired immunity. Basically, its another indicator that normal life should be allowed to resume and that the idea of vaccine passports being needed is a (dangerous) farce.

The lockdown lovies are raging. It must be less testing (testing is pretty much the same), a lag before the spike (it's the largest decline in months), children being out of school (they only broke up last week), it will take a week for the lack of restrictions to kick in (but it acts instantly for schools right?).

I'm convinced at this stage that some would rather people die to prove a political point.

Some are more passionate about their political parties than the most ardent football fans are about their clubs, I’ve never understood it myself although it’s probably because I’m not really into politics. But different leaders and manifestos you’d think would mean party loyalty wasn’t a thing but it’s really bad atm, if Labour were in power and doing the same those on the left would be defending the decision instead of attacking it and vice versa with those on the right. I’m seeing it at work atm, it’s a shame because public health shouldn’t be political it should be a cross party issue, but it is what it is.

Suppose to some it is similar to football. Managers and players at a club change but we still support the club

There’s no ideology in football though, Corbyn and Blair for instance put Labour in very different stratosphere’s Blair was more Tory light but the red wall still voted for him due to him representing red.
