So a number of people are walking around wrongly believing they're vaccinated? You couldn't make it up. All about protecting lives, obviously.

Maybe. But isn't the whole idea of the passport to keep people "safe" by not coming into contact with unvaccinated people? That idea can't actually be that important if you can simply override it.

I don't see how it can be anything other than coercion. As I say, what could be more safe than testing negative for the virus? You could be vaccinated and still have it.

Your figure for under 18s is a little high, for England it's around 21%.

It's also worth mentioning that some under 18s have been vaccinated, accounting for 0.6% of the population who have received both doses and 1.1% who have received their first dose, but not their second dose.

Without the control group the true effectiveness long term will never be known, and without those studies the vaccines will never get full clearance.

Surely nobody involved in the trails getting the passport would be the safer thing to do if its so imperative that vaccinated and unvaccinated people don't mix?

Frontline NHS staff can now not isolate if they get pinged or contacted by track and trace as a close contact.
Lot of paperwork to do it and signed off by various people including Director of Public Health, so not a straight forward process but possible

    Go on then.

Quite simply the UK government does not want to disadvantage those who have contributed to the development of the vaccines, by participating in the trials.

So, it is allowing a grace period to all those taking part, so that either:
    1. they can get an approved vaccine after having the placebo/unapproved vaccine; or
    2. the vaccine they had, as part of the trial, is approved for use in the UK.

Who is still using the app, except for those who get 10 days off on full pay?

Has Covid topped out following the Euros now? Will it be on it's way down now the schools have finsihed?

Thursday last week was 48.5k, Friday last week was 52k. Yesterday was 40k and Today is 36k. The graph on the governments website seem to suggest it's on it's way back down.

was just about to post similar, or is it that people have isolated and therefore transmissions have been cut?

Testing will drop off a cliff if people have been testing to attend school. Checking in isn't require at places anymore, people are deleting the app and many will be looking at a holiday so won't want to be caught.

Will cases go down or will it be down to people not wanting to know and not bothered being tested. I haven't had a PCR since September last year, and that was only because I had all the symptoms and it was more to see if the rest of my family needed to isolate.

Ive had one PCR recently and that was because I was iffy on symptoms and had a meeting planned with someone who goes to a number of pharmacies each day so if they did catch it could potentially spread it widely and quickly and possible close a number of pharmacies.

    We all hope so.

I've had a look at the positive test figures and, based on the latest data, numbers peaked on 15 July in England, 4 days after the Euro final.

Wales peaked on 14 July, whilst Scotland's peak was much earlier on 28 June. Whilst I know the rules are different in Wales and Scotland, the figures there do indicate that the latest figures in England may not be just a blip following the Euros.

Now, positive tests alone aren't an absolutely reliable test of the direction the virus is going in, and it is dangerous to draw too many conclusions from data over such a short period of time, but there are some grounds to be optimistic.

It would be great if we could start the league season with numbers dropping and the pressure off any further restrictions.

Thinking about it this is the first Friday night with clubs open, then we have Saturday night tomorrow with clubs open.

I guess the acid test is the next two days.

The government are literally taking the piss out of people at this stage.

Are you a Key Worker pinged and tested negative, then you can work a ten hour shift but don't think of having a walk in the park on the way home, no you have to isolate when you aren't at work, you see the virus knows when you are working and will only attack you when not.

If anyone thinks the government leadership in all this is anything other than a shitshow at this stage then no doubt you can see the science behind this latest move.

It reminds me of a circus where policy is written on a card and placed in a tombola and picked out and pieced together.

All this bullshit is because they won't admit the plucked out of the air date of 16th August for the long overdue self isolation change has no scientific merit but are sticking to it anyhow. They come up with this garbage rather than just moving that date forward. If it is safe to test and move out of isolation on the 16th Aug jt's safe now. Just like if it is safe to work a 10 hour shift, it's safe to go to the park with your kids.

If anybody doubts the real impact of draconian vaccine passports just go have a look at the state of American news at the moment.

Basically the only thing they're talking about is who is vaccinated and who isn't and it's setting one side against the other. One of the most divided Western countries has found yet another thing to divide themselves with and it's horrible to watch.

We need to stop this idea of knowing and caring what others peoples medical status is. Unless the causing of division is actually what the aim is?
