    It's just.....how these things work.

And some people still don't get it. Either because they've blindly tied themselves into a political position (regardless of party) or because nightclubs and/or travel don't affect them directly but we're losing all perspective of common sense, if we haven't lost it already.

Would love to see 5 kids decide to pop to a restaurant as per that example.

Some people are completely brainwashed into believing whatever the government tell them and will never "get it"
common sense was lost many many months ago
We are completely up the river without a paddle

Yes it's amazing how people can be so easily brainwashed. Two years ago, the lying, blustering, hypocritical buffoon called a General Election and milliions of people voted for him and gave him a huge majority in Parliament. This allows him to do more or less what he wants. It's the same lying, blustering, hypocritical buffoon who is now responsible for our response to the Covid pandemic. He hasn't suddenly changed his mo. It's the same one he has developed over the years. He and his cronies have created all of this confusion and distrust as he has done previously. Maybe those who voted for him need to have a good look at themselves in the mirror. ;)

Problem is Den show me the alternative. One look at the opposition and what hope have we got. The worst leadership in my living memory and yet Labour are still self imploding. Politics in this country continues to reach a new low, in a way I feel for anyone trying to wrestle control of Labour because there are that many back stabbers wanting their 15 minutes of fame.

    Meanwhile Rome burns

The reality is tthat the Conservatives have a huge majority in the HoC and Labour with their current level of performance and lack of leadership won't overcome that for the foreseeable future. I'm sure however that there are plenty of alternatives in the Conservative party who would make a far better leader than Johnson and make a better fist of the country's big issues. Most of them aren't in the Cabinet of course since the last thing Johnson wants is somebody having the effrontery to challenge his thinking

Maybe your question should be asked of the opposition parties why they made it so easy to win with an 80+ majority with their stupid election campaigns and manifesto promises ;).
A party that would not recognize the referendum vote,
A party that did not want to recognise the referendum and tried to convince the electorate they would get a better deal, and then ask the electorate to vote against it :sob:, their leader for the first time in his life saying he was brexit neutral when most knew him as an anti EU campaigner all of his political life mainly on the back bench's.

Why should it? If it weren't for rules and regulations, we'd be living in a lawless society with a life expectancy of about 25. Someone needs to make the rules as civilization cannot survive without law and order.

Low and behold, it's those who we as a nation have elected who are making those rules.

If anything, the government aren't going hard enough in enforcing what should be compulsory vaccination for all.

Exactly. Both parties are a shambles, but what we're seeing play out, we're seeing play out the world over. This isn't about one particular country making a mess of things.

    Weird though isn't it?

We seem to have got into a situation where its expected that you have to agree with individuals about everything.....and that's where the issues start because you get tied into situations you don't believe in.

It's possible to agree with Johnson about Brexit, want an emphasis on educated personal responsibility and disagree with him about any curtailment of liberties. Just because people voted for him 2 years ago doesn't mean you have to agre with him now and vice versa, it's too polarised and focused on individuals.

You're right. Only New Zealand have managed this well and there's still time for that to go wrong as well.

This is a novel virus and there is no reference manual on how to manage the response to it, only ideas based on other viruses and health emergencies.

    Is it?

They've only vaccinated 12% of their population. Almost none of their unvaccinated population have had Covid, so their societal immunity level is miniscule. The Delta variant will go through their population like a dose of salts, killing thousands.

Only weird fringe conspiracy theorists like you can't see why they want to contain the outbreak in those circumstances.

If you think that's a proportionate response, fair enough. I think its lunacy and a reflection of the elements of society that have completely lost their marbles.

Continue to take false comfort in the lazy dismissal of 'conspiracy theory weirdos' as you put it. It isn't and won't stop those theories playing out, exactly as has been predicted.

The UK has controlled the outbreaks poorly, but the vaccine rollout very well.
Australia has controlled the outbreaks well, but the vaccine rollout poorly.

Unfortunately, you need to do both well with this virus and, so far, no country seems to have succeeded on that front. Even New Zealand's vaccine rollout is very slow, leaving them wide open, if the virus should breakout there.
