    That chart seems to look at a range of scenarios, not just the worst case one that you seem to have focused on. I see the central assumption predicts a modest increase around August/September.

    That said, the 'problem' with scientists, from a general public aspect, is that they like to cover the whole range of potential outcomes and, of course, there is a public/media predilection to focus on the worst case scenarios.

    I see in the Telegraph the University College London's modelling says that 73.4 of the UK will some kind of resistance to Covid 19 by the 12th April, either through the vaccine of through antibodies.

    It's hard to find this story in the main media as it doesn't fit the narrative of keeping everyone in fear.

    Isn’t the Telegraph part of MSM?

    Plus Daily Mail, Mirror, Independent are all covering it

    What seems to have slipped the radar is the TV stations and reference to previous briefings that said that was the threshold for herd immunity.

    The might need to go steady with stories like that. People will start wanting their freedoms back if they're not careful!!

    From the news I have seen, they are shamlessly trotting out the sister of someone who died from a blood clot to tell everyone to get the vaccine, as that fits their narrative.

    I remember that post. Part of a discussion about restrictions just being needed until mid February. Short term pain for long term gain.

    How we laughed!! : unamused:

    3 weeks to flatten the curve,

    Lose Easter to save our summer.

    Lose November to save Christmas,

    Have a merry little Christmas,

    Lose Jan, Feb and March to save Easter.

    The vaccine is our key to freedom.

    Not everyone will require vaccinating to go back to normal, we can open up when the at risk are vaccinated.

    All social distancing to end on the 21st June - Now show us your papers after denying this for months and months and months.

    And people wonder why they don't buy into all the shit about temporary Covid Passports etc going forward.

    Nice rant, but we were flying blind, we are flying blind and we will still be flying blind for months to come, that's the reality..

    Would think so as some jobs already need certain vaccinations

    It's none of our business but if you are happy to share, is this a job in healthcare that is requiring this, a major company? Or is it something like administrative in a small company?

    I'm just wondering why a company can do this because if say Morrisons said we can't offer you the job for a reason like this the employment lawyers would be all over it for discrimination.

    It is a smallish firm that does business across the globe. They produce an ingredient used in products that are classed as licensed medicines in some of their markets but I wouldn’t class it as healthcare

    More positive news coming out of the Zoe app/trial, which over 4 million people are taking part in:
    1. Numbers have fallen below 2,000 cases a day, which is amongst the lowest in Europe;
    2. The latest data suggests a third wave, in the UK, is "unlikely";
    3. One of the few countries doing better than us is Israel, which is the only largeish country ahead of us with the vaccinations; and
    4. Over 600,000 Oxford/AstraZeneca jabs have been recorded, without a single case of a bloodclot recorded, emphasising just how rare an event this is.
    One other thing to come from the Zoe app/trial recently is that there is no clear evidence, as yet, that vitamin D supplements help prevent COVID-19. Yes, there is a correlation between hospital cases of COVID-19 and vitamin D deficiency, but this could well be as a consequence of catching COVID-19 rather than a cause. Further studies are required.

    The major source of Vitamin D is sunlight. Seeing as many have been confined to their homes for months on end that's going to play into it I would suspect.

    As I said the correlation is there but, as yet, there is no conclusive evidence that vitamin D helps prevent COVID-19. However, it is well worth further study.

    I was just suggesting people are possibly showing a deficit of Vitamin D because they can't get out and about as they usually would. It could be something across the board at the moment and might have no correlation to the virus at all, but an effect of lockdown. I would get some get out but many seems to be quite happy bunkering in their homes.
