Vaccinations are been held back in Yorkshire and vaccines diverted to the south and London so they can catch up as they are behind especially in over 80s

Yes I heard that on the news last night I get it that the first 4 categories are priority but you have to wonder if it had been down south that were "getting the job done" (and mainly London by the graphs that were shown) would they have been as quick to act I'm not sure ?.

Thing is that is during the current lockdown restrictions. Would it be so low if people were allowed out?

I can't see any sort of lock down being eased or reduced for months especially now they say this second strain is more lethal than the original strain.

I have been trying to avoid this up till now.

But I will say, let not create a divide.... its not all one way.

Let's not forget the whole country was put into lockdown in November because of numbers of cases up north.... and now the north are coping better with vaccines... you should carry on.... unfortunately thats not the way forward.

You can't have it all your own way. If the government would have shut down the North only in November... there would have been uproar.... unfortunately its now leveling out with vaccine numbers.

    Its the way it goes.

I dont think it's a matter of having it our own way if vaccine is available for our area then we should be vaccinating the 4 priority categories and if other areas are lagging by all means divert resources to those areas but not at the detriment of those parts of the country that are being efficient.

Looks like the Government are resolved to ignoring the manufacturer of the Pfiizer vaccine, The World health organisation and the doctors organisations and continue to give the second dose at up to 12 weeks rather than the 4 all the expert bodies recommend

Apparently we are the only country in the world going this route and there is no existing testing or evidence to support it. I get their reasoning but It's a big gamble and doesn't appear to be "following the science".

Another example where following the science isn't easy though. Whitty is saying it's absolutely fine.

I know, I saw him last night. Is it arrogance or or bravery going against the manufacturer of the vaccine and the WHO's recommendations. There is no scientific evidence to support this route. Don't get me wrong, I get the reasoning and it may well be proved right, but it's still a gamble and opposition is growing.

we were still part of the EU when we approved the vaccine weren't we? So it's nothing that any other individual country couldn't have done themselves, but they favoured a collective response. I suppose time will tell who was in the right. If we vaccinate everyone we need to for herd immunity to start to take effect (60-70% I believe) before the EU countries and are back to normal while theyre still languishing behind, then clearly we were right to move ahead as we did. But I still don't think that outweighs all the other areas where we are inevitably weaker and poorer for brexit.

Not sure we were part of the EU, the withdrawal agreement was ratified on 23 January 2020 so I say were werent part of the EU when the vaccine was approved.

You may be right but it's a high profile example that sometimes trying to have an overarching policy across 27 different countries isn't always the best way to do things. Without the political ideal that they are one common area there is no doubt that countries like Germany would have already been further on with the vaccination programme.

No doubt, but the gains made by richer countries would be at the expense of the poorer ones having less, so there's pro and cons to each approach.

I don't disagree. But if you're in one of the most technologically advanced countries it can feel like you are being held back by accommodating the rest.
