Does anyone know if there's a distance limit on support bubbles?
I heard the question asked on Look North during the last lockdown and it was said that Sheffield to Bradford was ok.
Our lass lives in Brid... I'm in Bradford.... both live alone so meet the criteria. I'm travelling regularly to see her but would like to know if I'm likely to get my collar felt by PC Plod on my travels.
I googled it but could only find a link to the Welsh government site that ssid there's no limit.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The gudance is that the support bubble should be local-so if the plod stop you in Brid you do run the risk of being fined even though your support bubble criteria are almost met. Have made that bit emboldened for ease of reference. Be warned that Police are using ANPR to flag cars not registered in the local area.

    Taken from .gov website

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home#support-and-childcare-bubbles

    Support and childcare bubbles
You have to meet certain eligibility rules to form a support or childcare bubble. This means not everyone will be able to form a bubble.

A support bubble is a support network which links two households. You can form a support bubble with another household of any size only if you meet the eligibility rules.

It is against the law to form a support bubble if you do not follow these rules.

You are permitted to leave your home to visit your support bubble (and to stay overnight with them). However, if you form a support bubble, it is best if this is with a household who live locally. This will help prevent the virus spreading from an area where more people are infected.

If you live in a household with anyone aged under 14, you can form a childcare bubble. This allows friends or family from one other household to provide informal childcare.

You must not meet socially with your childcare bubble, and must avoid seeing members of your childcare and support bubbles at the same time.

There is separate guidance for support bubbles and childcare bubbles.

The fact it says best that it is local means it doesn’t have to be. So I would say go for it and if stopped just ask where it says in the regs that it is wrong

That's a very risky approach to take.

If the lad is desperate enough for a shag though.;)

I’d say it was the logical approach. If it had to be local it would say so

Splitting hairs on something so serious? Err on the side of caution surely? Potentially taking Covid into Bridlington area renowned for its ageing population to me is not a good idea. That to me is far more logical approach. But that is my opinion of course. Common sense needs to be applied.

The question wasn’t around common sense or what was the right thing to do it was a factual question around the rules. The rules do not say they HAVE to be local.

Like I say splitting hairs. If you think its OK-as I think you do otherwise why are you debating me- at this time to travel over some distances into other areas whilst potentially being infected -especially Bridlington for example-then you need to have your head examined.

don’t think I have said I agree. I’m just pointing out what the question was that was asked and why I answered as I did. If you can not understand the difference between what I have said I did and what you are saying then it is you that needs your head examining.

So you agree people shouldn't travel outside their local area right now?

I don't think what Johnson did was wrong nor what the women did was wrong, the issue stems from Hancock being on the news Sunday defending the fines to the two women which were rescinded only after Johnson did basically the same thing.

It's not the first time they are rounded on others then closed ranks for themselves.

The police setup a sting at that walk, why else would 7 of them be waiting there other than to hand out tickets to soft targets, they would be better deployed being visable near supermarkets where people are selfishly refusing to wear masks.

Politicians aren't going to throw individual coppers under the bus.....or shouldn't do anyway. Until the process goes through and it gets officially reminded they should back them. As the senior copper said today on the press conference they have hundreds of thousands of interactions with the public and they're not going to get every single one of them right but that's why they have appeals.

I don't doubt it was a sting and I understand forces with beauty spots not wanting people to congregate there from far away and create crowds but they judged that one completely wrong and like you say they could be better deployed elsewhere.

The Boris thing is yet another attempt to create confusion and distrust about the rules, he wasn't going anything wrong so why even suggest that he was? Explain to people that they are allowed to get that sort of exercise. Was it the Guardian front page story ffs? Shows the mentality.

The Boris non story was one of the reasons i don't listen to anything to do with this virus anymore thats on the TV or media. I don't listen to death counts or look at endless graphs or listen to so called experts contradicting each other in some pointless scoring exercise. I also know that in life i cannot persuade others to something i think might be beneficial to others so choose not to with things like not wearing a mask, its not worth the agro.
So I still go about my daily life as normal as possible, i don't shit myself if someone dares walk past me on the same side of the road, i stay away from people as i normally would, mainly due to the lack of intelligence of a large percentage of the Brotish population, i clean my hands regular with sanitiser, but then i always have done as part of every day life, usually with very hot water and cleanser. I wear a mask when I feel appropriate, walking down the street or in the park, or driving on my own does not constitute the need to wear a bloody mask.

Is it really a sting if they are sat there waiting in plain sight in marked cars? I’d say a sting would be if they were all hidden in the bushes and jumped out
