No borderline about it, if you think things are bad now (and they are) the alternative would have been disastrous with the economy trashed for a whole different reason......

Yesterday, the Govt's own Office of National Statistics published information that showed the UK had the worst excess death rate of all countries across Europe. The PM described it as a 'massive success'! That's just crass, it's unbelievable.and a big fecking lie.

Lucky for the country that the PM hasn't been responsible for a massive failure!

There was an article on TV (I believe News Night) from Leicester speaking to one of the elders/Imam and he stated the race card was being played.

The statistics don't have feelings. It's a common trend. I've witnessed it with my own eyes.

My sister in law had Covid but displayed virtually none of the symptoms except a banging headache. Some people don't show any symptoms at all. You could have contracted it today for all you know.

Seems you would put other family/friends at risk without hesitation and you call me mindless.

Ok - maybe callous but here goes....
Am I expected to explain to my kids, again, that they can’t see friends, interact socially with other kids, possibly miss out on more education because some people might get a headache?
My kids have gotten through the lockdown fairly unscathed, socially I’ve seen changes in them - but nothing that can’t be rectified over time...I won’t let their childhood be ruined.
I’m sorry, but if your in a risk group then that person needs to shield until the threat :joy: has reduced.
This virus is not a killer of the healthy...but will kill our kids futures.

Let's hope this is a tiny bump in the road and a mere minor fluctuation.

I'm glad that the government aren't shutting down all business again, but their dialogue is pathetic. An utter shambles, and completely disorganised at every step.

    Still.

    What do anyone expect?

Corbyn couldn't have ruined the economy. He was never going to get a majority. Total myth.

Would Corbyn could have done was continued to employ experience in his cabinet, which Johnson has failed to do, appointing a wave of inexperienced ministers who have struggled at every turn. He could have shut down sooner, more than likely if he had actually attended early emergency meetings, and limited the spread and number of deaths. He could have immediately begun replacing the expired stockpile of PPE, which he no doubt would have cracked on with.

The idea Boris has done a better job than Corbyn comes revolves around mythology. Boris is lazy, populist, and arrogant. He is here ONLY to allay fears for Brexit voters by providing his reassuring charm. He is not the candidate to be dealing with a pandemic, and any PM who nearly kills themselves trying to prove its not serious is the WORST candidate.

    Dither. Delay. Death.

A few months ago Fordy was wanting to send all your over 70s to Scotland. Now Nicola Sturgeon doesn't want us to travel to Yorkshire.
Do as you're told and stay safe.

The whole fecking lot of them, with the possible exception of Rishi Sunak are utterly incompetent. They are without doubt the most inept government in living memory.
This is what happens when a PM packs his cabinet full of Brexit loyalists, however useless they are, and purges everyone with any authority, gravitas, competence or ability to oppose him on anything. Even Thatcher, who I hated with a vengeance, had a mixed cabinet of 'true believers' and more moderate, but experienced ministers. And she apparently relished the prospect of challenging debate, which Johnson the clown certainly doesn't.

The fact is, Boris got in to see us through Brexit. He was going to soundbyte us all the way out of the EU, tally ho, bluster, we're British, we'll get through this.

    It would have been fine.

Boris wouldn't have ruined the economy under normal circumstances, he wouldn't have done a right lot. He would have spouted populist notions and tried to carry on the momentum from the election campaign, which was just one big smear campaign with Boris largely staying out of it. Attack, attack, attack, and people went for it.

All fine and dandy until something serious happens - and as WE ALL KNOW, Boris could not have handled this much worse on a governmental level (he could have handled it worse, look at Trump and Bolsanaro, but not MUCH worse) - on a personal level, there is no lower ground. He couldn't have handled it worse. He could be dead, he's that stupid.

    Of course they're incompetent!

They're not there to LEAD, they're there to not get in the way of Brexit! They're young 'yes' people appointed to replace the fuddy duddies who held reservations.

Boris was so one track minded he literally ignored everything else, even as it developed, pressing on with his agenda.

Unbelievably bad leadership, the worst in many decades.

I saw that and don't doubt it's truth but what I couldn't find was where they had got the excess death data from the other countries.

As for the announcement yesterday. Wasn't really a shock at all.

I an getting genuinely bored of people complaining every time the government try to do something to curb the spread. Starting to think they should just let everyone crack on and so whatever they want.

Saw that an MP drew a correlation between the areas of high infrction and the Asian community today.....predictably got torn apart as some sort of racist.
