    We are going the right way that’s for sure. However;

    “The Covid Patient Notification System did not operate for a period of time on Saturday 16 May. The consequences of this situation may therefore be reflected in the number of deaths reported today by NHS England and NHS Improvement.”

    30 million doses of the 'Oxford' vaccine to be available by September.

    I think the government has got this one right; mass produce the vaccine before we know whether it is effective or not. It's a big financial gamble, but sometimes you've just got to roll the dice.

    What this pandemic has cost the world so far our investment into a vaccine that might help slowing deaths down is a very small price to pay either way, and you as well as I know if they had waited the government would have got stick, any glimmer of hope has to be pursued.

    I believe it's the right thing to do.

    The prof in charge of the research at Oxford was sounding quite confident a week or so ago when interviewed although she said that there were still several stages of testing for the vaccine before it would pass muster for humans. She also explained that normally for other vaccines, production set-up doesn't start (because it involves a massive investment) until the final phase of testing had been completed. But on this occasion, her advice was to start setting up largescale manufacturing plant and getting everything ready prior to the testing being completed so that when it is approved, production could start immediately.

    In the context of the cost of Covid 19 around the world and the effect it's had on our own economy, it's a no brainer for me. JFDI!

    I saw a report on tv where she said she was 80% certain the vaccine would work , would be a hell of achievement and a shot in the arm for the UK ( literally ) if true

    At least 13 sailors on the American aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt have reportedly tested positive for coronavirus for a second time - it's unclear whether they were re-infected or if the virus remained in their blood from their first positive tests.
