May 11th has gone and schools aren’t back. Don’t think it will be 18th either.

your third guess might be right but we shall wait and see.

This is because you have a brain and use common sense, if the vast majority of the public had this then we wouldn't have to have such harsh l;ockdown measures.

The problem is you may have the common sense to ensure that but with no oversight to ensure it many will get complacent.

You will also get people abuse it and we have seen over the last couple of months people abusing the fact that the police can’t enter your home to have a BBQ but it gets even harder if there are some who are allowed because they are family (and where does it end, you could have a great grandparent have their kids, their grandkids and their great grandkids around at the same time which could be tens of people)

Feels as though the guidelines are so flimsy that they’re impossible to enforce. And so effectively we’re now in a position where you can almost do what you want, as long as it doesn’t require anything being open.

Having everything revolve around the word ‘essential’ is obviously going to mean different things to different people, eventually simply meaning “how much do I want to?”

    Dear Boris,

I can meet a friend at a safe social distance - say, in my front garden. My wife can do likewise, with his wife. But we can't meet them together and have a couples drink at a safe distance. Is this correct?

We're living together. They're living together. The increased risk from seeing both of them together with both of us is negligible, especially since none of us has been anywhere for weeks.

Is there something about meeting as couples that makes us less 'alert'?

On the face of it, it sounds silly. But I believe there's enough information and context out there now to give people the understanding they need, to apply common sense. i.e. in the scenario you mention, I see no issue in practice. In various walks of life and work its about minimizing the number of interactions between households at any one time and over a period of time. The more distance we all keep, where possible, the better.

Increasingly we're all going to have to think for ourselves and take responsibility, abiding by the spirit of the rules rather than the prescription of the words.

Not even Labour give money away for free. Look upon as it as a long term loan which will be drip fed back from into the coffers through taxation.

Why is it always the same group who end up paying it back?

You're better than that, 99% of us are in the same 'group', i'm just a pensioner with a few savings and i'm already 3k a year down before any increase in taxes
This will upset a few but we really are all in it together...

Might be 99% on here Tone, but i can see where How is coming from, it will be the likes of me and you that end up paying for this in the long term. Probably another levy on the self employed, a rise on tax on PAYE. The rich won't stop getting richer and the poor have feck all anyway.

The notion of paying it back, when the economy runs at mind blowing deficits that are scrawled on the back of a fag packet, is a struggle for me to get my head round. I don’t think anything ever gets ‘paid back’ in the sense that most people understand or associate with that phrase.

Unfortunatly it's always the next generation or two that pay previous debt off, no one wanted to go to war yet it took until quite resently to pay our debt to America off, unfortunatly it will be the same with this, sadly both unavoidable.
