I take your point and appreciate that we Are in an unprecedented time. We don’t know who would have prepared better. That’s hard to say. Maybe we would have all been in the same position but when we got the warnings and lockdown was an option, that is when better decision making needed to be made. At that point we had time on our side. We are going to have the second highest number of deaths in the world from this. We have failed miserably

Is that absolute number of deaths or deaths per capita?

Yeah we can't say who would have done better or worse! That's a bollocks argument.

We can only judge the government now and they balls up big time and currently letting the country down and now treating all like children.

Most deaths if it’s an accurate thing to use in the end. Think we will overtake Spain and Italy

That Superman speech from February that is doing rounds on social media at the minute is a bit of a smoking gun mate. He was basically saying that we’d do things differently to every other country to make a few quid. He didn’t take this seriously at all.

I’m not saying any other individual or party would have fared better with the circumstances, we’ll never know that.

I pay for it but times are hard at this moment for some and I think it's important that people get some things for free in this moment and gain an understanding of what's going on

You do understand that press companies like Newquest who own the T & A have plenty of money. It's was brought for 200m.

So, this press don't have money is bollocks. The problem is the companies want to pay the editors low money. It's a little like the government paying the NHS staff low wages!

    I agree.

So far as the UK's preparedness is concerned, I'd like to see an independent, serious and exhaustive review held in public of what we did and didn't do in readines for this crisis. And I don't just mean from say January onwards but going back several years to when the recommendations of the Govt's own pandemic simulation, Exercise Cygnus, were simply kicked into the long grass. It would be great to think that the review and perhaps more importantly the future recommendations would be free from party politics but I have serious doubts that that will ever be the case. I'm not naive enough to believe that any Govt (and its principal political adviser!) would give carte blanche to a full independent review without the opportunity to influence events and the recommendations. The Govt has repeated ad nauseum that they were being led by the scientists which of course is bollocks since the most important decisions are a matter of policy and not science and therefore taken by politicians.

If I were standing in the scientists' shoes, I'd be preparing my own ammunition now before the politicians start their own blame game. And like most politicians of every hue, they are well skilled at that.

Are Boris days numbered and the powers that be don’t want him in charge any more?
Seems to be a series of well time leaks and stories today.

I think the maneuvering has already started. It may be the cynic in me, and I've no doubt he was genuinely ill but I do wonder if the severity was exaggerated. It's a convenient response isnt it? 'How can you questioned the PMs commitment? He very nearly gave his life and clearly sacrificed his health in order to lead at a time where he should've been resting'.

I may be being entirely unfair. It may have been completely genuine but even if so, itll be used when the political fighting really ramps up.

The conservatives are starting to make a right mess of this situation now.

This is only going to get worse for Boris if his people covering for him don't start being more open with the English public and just say sorry for any faults.

Problem that's happening now is they're telling people what to do but continuing with their life as normal but ours have changed plus they're not taking a pay cut or going on frontline themselves.

Just be open in communication, don't be dry also.

They need to stop with this we follow the science bollocks and start leading now!

To be honest I thought no but longer this continues I think he could be in trouble.

His team are shi&e.. letting him down.

Hancock is a liability for example. He's damaged the party on his own. Agent Hancock sent in by Labour!

    596 deaths

    5850 cases

Biggest drop in 2 weeks for deaths

    Case up though.

I've just been to drop some shopping off for my nan. First time I've been off our street for 10 days. The amount of cars on the road and people walking and milling about gobsmacked me.it would've been fairly busy for an early summer saturday. It's a sunday, in lockdown.
