Never checked out the Countdown thread. I thought it was a Carol Vorderman appreciation thread. I will be sure to take a look then

Tread carefully, it’s like the dark web except with more weirdos and freaks.

 

I’ve just seen one on Twitter, screenshot and shared amongst his many thousands of followers, and therefore amplified to the nth degree. And there lies the problem, I otherwise wouldn’t have seen it without his attempt at being the most horrified.

 

Twitter is a very strange place. It can be hilarious with genuinely funny people intermixed with vile hatred and bile. From one extreme to another.

 

The people who wanted him to suffer or die will stay have those views and so they should. Its their choice not that i agree with it. They shouldn't change their mind just because Johnson is another statistic amongst 100s of thousands worldwide. I had my views on Thatcher after the way she treat the miners and it didn't change when she popped her clogs.

 

Each to their own Rodge. I've a lot of time for Maggie. She's helped me out several times. If I think about her hard enough, I can usually go on for another 4 or 5 minutes.

 

Thats fair comment m8. My Dad set up a business at about the time she gained power, it was a perfect time for anyone looking to put the hard graft in and be rewarded for it. Before she took over the country was on its knees. But the way she decimated working class communities leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.

David Schneider spends his whole time on twitter denouncing Brexit and the Tories, to a point where i view him as possibly the most boring poster on twitter. Then does a u turn in light of Johnsons admittance ICU. Then laid into by the equally repulsive Allison Pearson, journo for the telegraph. This is what twitter has become, especially in light of the Corona virus, a place to score political points, where massive egos need massaging through likes and retweets, where hyprocrisy and moral hgih ground climbing know no limits. Shame because it can be a great place for laugh at times.

 

Yeah in seriousness, she was perhaps the most polarizing PM in my lifetime. People either did very well, or very badly under her. Not much in the way of middle ground.

 

You know, It is possible to not agree with someone and not want them dead or wish physical ill upon them. If you think that a few tweets mean this notion becomes the exception rather than the rule, then social media has probably done its job.

Why the hell do we need to know who controls nuclear weapons at this moment in time. Is it really necessary to ask this sort of thing?

 

If people remember the times when Thatcher took the reins dustbins weren’t being emptied the lights were off and the three day week will know that the unions had this country on its knees. The country had to change and she was the Woman for the job. The Miners leader Scargill has to take a lot of the blame for what happened to the mining community whilst drawing his huge salary.
Thatcher did a lot of good things like allowing people to buy their own council houses she let herself down and sealed her fate with the grossly unfair poll tax
