I read this rhetoric now and again.

How many fans actually think things are okay as long as players are trying?

A handful on here, and a couple of thousand in the stands? It's a minority that applaud an athletic contest, its not a big deal. Let them get on with enjoying football how they want.

The majority either storm out after a goal, boo, or rant and rave on here.

We need to stop obsessing over a minority who refuse to bombard the players and club.

    Move on.

If you travel via Tamworth & Nuneaton to Coventry Arena station, you can avoid the rail engineering works around Coventry itself, and there's no problem getting on the Nuneaton bound services after the match.

aslong as tickets remain cheap City fans will swallow whatever shit sandwich is served to them. because even if we're losing 6-0 away at Newport, 13000 will still turn up next week at home to Solihull, because it's "great value" isn't it.

Buying a season ticket is accepting mediocrity though.

Not buying a ST shows that you are not accepting this shower and demanding improvement.

Can't preach something then do something completely different with actions.

I do not believe this, clearly this is your view, no idea why. How many matches have you not turned up for this season? I missed a couple at the beginning of the season, but turned up for the rest reluctantly. Unless we are storming the league, I will be missing a few next season, guaranteed! Am I prepared to put up with what we have witnessed this season? Not at all.

I think the club will get one season-to show we have the wherewithal to put it right. If we don’t see progress, no matter how cheap next season then it will drop off.

Exactly my point in the above post.

Supporters such as @Faithful Bantam@Faithful Bantam are essentially contradicting themselves by doing so.

If you're happy with League 2 and sh*te then get your season ticket and go watch, fine, nothing wrong with that.

But don't preach about not accepting mediocrity then basically accepting mediocrity by committing to another season of sh*te with no evidence to suggest things will change, with the exception of a few cheap words. We've had cheap words for 2 years running.

It’s rooted much deeper than that. There’s a stench of mediocrity running through the club and we’ve become so accustomed to it that anyone calling it out is soon demeaned for ‘not being a true supporter’.

It’s Kai Brunker becoming a cult hero.
It’s Adam Chicksen ‘not being that bad’.
    It’s ‘bring back Shay McCartan’.
It’s ‘maybe Antony O’Connor would be OK in a holding midfield role’.
It’s ‘we can still do it with 6 games left’ when we’ve been shite all season.
    It’s ‘give Collins a chance’
It’s ‘at least Billy Clarke loves the club’
It’s ‘lets Massively underprice tickets because that’s the only way to get big crowds in’.

It’s been so long since we were a properly ambitious, well run club that we’ve forgotten what it’s looks like.

I don’t disagree, so in a sense it’s contradictory. But my mindset is that I’ve renewed for next season entirely on blind faith - it’s the last chance the club has to start acting properly, or I’m done. I’m giving Rupp a chance to undo his mess. But I’m not tolerating shite indefinitely. It’s the same reason why I’ve not been since Blackpool and won’t be going again this season - I’m not offering support to the current bunch.
And if there’s not wholesale change in the summer, I won’t be going much next season either.

The suggestion was Anthony O'Connor might be a better holding midfielder than Akpan if we are going to play Paudie at centre back, particularly in the air. I fail to see how this thought is promoting a stench of mediocrity. It's just a technical suggestion to how we could be doing a little better with the underperforming squad we have here.

The current ticket pricing maximises TOTAL revenue for the club. If it did not work, it would have been dropped long ago.

We have had 3 years of making do with good enough or not good enough players? Thinking that young players who haven’t proved themselves anywhere ie Riley are going to come good. I am fed up with feeling like this, and as fans we don’t matter, yep the board are ecstatic we have sold so many, and so they should be. No more!

If they don’t get it right this season, I won’t be back until they do. It ruins your whole weekend, it doesn’t matter whether I go or don’t, it still ruins my weekend/week. I have been to one away match this season, I have not wanted to go, you have the pain of traveling and derision from the home fans to deal with.

Here’s what should happen next, at the end of this season we need a statement of intent from the board. No pussyfooting, we are either going to do the job right or prepare for failure. You have one season to show improvement and that we are going in the right direction. Our first priority is to progress back to LG 1, so we need to be at least in the mix at the end of the season. If we don’t make it we need to invest more so we make it the following season preferably automatic. Then we not only stay in LG 1, we do what Luton have done, keep going.

Unfortunatly IMO all the above can be laid at the door of Rahic & Rupp, although Julian & Mark were limited finacially they did their best to give Phil Parkison what he wanted and left the football side to Parky, I'm sure they would have passed comments occasionally with regards games but they wouldnt think of interfering with the football side that was Parky domain.
I believe the comments you allud to above are more in desperation that actually believing it will happen.
Under Parky and up to a point under Stuart you felt that even playing the better sides in the division we would give a good account of ourselves and many times get a favourable result on the day.

I have renewed, so I guess maybe I am contradicting myself, but I haven't attended a number of games this season, haven't been at all since leaving the Blackpool game at half time it was that bad, and if the team don't show early doors that next season is going to be different I'll have no problem sacking it off.

I don't plan on going to another game this season, possibly the last home game but that would be purely to show my respects to the victims of the fire tragedy, and maybe boo and hurl abuse at the final whistle at the shower of shite that have played for us this season.

my enthusiasm for the club died a death under Rahic, I got to the stage that I really didn't care when we got beat, i'd just laugh at how crap we were. I haven't yet got that back fully. I hope next season's team gives us something to get excited about.

Some of those are fair, but some aren't.

O'Connor is terrible, but that doesn't mean Akpan is better even at central midfield.

Chicksen is poor, Connor Wood is worse.

Some of them are just pure hope. A fan base that quits, en masse, 100 percent, is actually a worse fan base than we have now.

I get your point, we should have more ambition. But we are the worst team in the EFL. We aren't going to get promoted next season. We won't go from awful to quality over night, or the course of one summer.

Also, I feel I have to add that had Edin Rahic still been our chairman I would not have renewed.

I'm just giving the 'new' regime the chance to rectify the mess he created. my patience isn't infinite, though.

Me too, I would not have renewed either. As I say they have one season to improve which for me means being in the mix next season.

The Chicken/Wood and Akpan/O'Connor comparisons are really just different shades of shit. I'd disagree that Wood has been worse but I don't care enough about it to argue strongly. In Wood's defence, he's just a kid who's been thrown in at the deepest of deep ends. He deserves another year surrounded by proper grown ups to help him learn.

As for not being the worst team in the EFL.... we're not far off. Macclesfield are 3rd bottom of L2 and they beat us. We have fewer points than the bottom team in League 2. In fact, right now if we played each of the bottom 6 in League 2, our record would probably be evenly split over wins, draws and defeats. I wouldn't back us to be able to go to Notts County and win. And I could see any of the bottom 6 coming to VP and bullying their win to a horrible 1-0 win.

Glad this is all about the Coventry game!!!!

Trains station right outside the gates very strange timetable for returning to Coventry though, use a bus.

Should be glad this season is nearly over. Too much wasted opportunity with a very mismatched bunch of players. Some very good technical players, lightweight but not a team. Bristol perfect example played well should have won the game but came away with nothing.

Anyway, see you at Coventry- keep the faith there’s always next season.

No. I didn't get a ST this season with Rahic at the helm, however for what is now a different reason this will be the second consecutive season I don't get one.

I've been to around 5 games this season which is the lowest total I've ever gone to in a season. (I've previously done all home/away in past League Two ventures - now i'm fed up of the massive lack of progression and decline we find ourselves in).

Edit - @Onside@Onside this answers your question too.
