Funny thing is from early December and after 21 years away from the UK Xmas still feels weird with the sun and hot weather, holiday in Jan to Bali should wake me up!

 

Telford in the cup ! 1985 on an ice rink. That was cold. One NYD at Lower Don Valley Stadium (we lost, Evans scored for them). Boxing day 1985 at Boundary Park. Big Bob scored by heading both the ball & Andy Gorham into the back of the net.

Yep went to that, quoted it earlier. Ridiculous conditions, they wanted it on, we wanted it off..Great leveller, they won.

It’s a miracle no one supporter or player didn’t end up with broken bones.

Young 'uns should watch this then imagine standing on snow on an open Kop for a night match and it's windy and snowing - or worse, icy rain. It used to happen often enough. We used to be entertained every now and then by somebody slipping down the compacted snow on the steps and trying to grab a crush barrier stanchion to stop themselves hitting the bottom. Also you had to watch out for snowballs from away fans that weren't always just snow!

 

Blackpool without the roof on in December was Baltic. Upper kop at VP December against Arsenal. The one that stands out was against Walsall freezing rain it was just dreadful. It took me hours to thaw out. Towards the end we couldn’t really concentrate on the match.

 

And the Walsall away game in the season we went down, one of the warmest February games ever.

 

Amazed no-one has mentioned Wembley for the Capital One Cup Final. It was a tad chilly that day !

You could certainly do worse, if you do maybe consider New Plymouth over Auckland or Wellington, more affordable and you are always close to the beach plus the traffic is miles better.

If you live outside in one of the new fringe areas Queenstown is both affordable and so beautiful all year round.

 

Legia Warsaw -7* around the end of November. Had 3 layers on and it still wasn't quite enough.

 

That game at Telford should have never been played a freezing cold day both journeys there and back the road conditions were terrible and the crowd facilities were shocking and of course the game should never have been played talk about Bambi on ice.

 

Spot on. We lost that day because our players were frightened of getting injured on a completely unplayable pitch. Imagine if Stuart had gone in for tackle and broken his leg. We might not have gone up.
