CDs game has never been about pace and acceleration.

 

Thorne got 20+ and he was cracking on a bit by then. Half of forward play at this level is causing and capitalising on mistakes... Donaldson and (if he stays) Doyle should have a field day against these defenders

 

Fortunately he’s had a good enough career with a number of moves where this shouldn’t be a last pay day as he should have enough money but a move for personal rather than career/financial reasons. I’m thinking that his basic may be reasonable but might have a fat goal bonus

 

But we wouldn’t have been able to sign him 5 years ago. I think we have to be realistic and remember the only reason we can sign a player like this is because he is in the twilight of his career

Not as many as Parky, oh well they’ll be in league 2 in a year anyway.

 

I agree. He’s been about strength and power.

 

I don't get the excitement to be honest. He was only in the Championship last season because he was on low wages and Parky picked him up for nothing. He scored 2 goals last season and played quite a few games and only 11 in the two seasons before that. I hope it works out for him and the club but I cant see him getting the goals required and I cant see him being the partner some of you think he will be for Doyle.
The constant Peter Thorne comparison is awful too/.His last game for us was 9 years ago. City fans love living in the past.

 

Nine years ago and he offers a good example of an experienced player that did well for us.

 

Its once in a blue moon. This will be a McLean type signing imo.

 

If he scored a decent amount for Bolton he would not be coming to league two

I knew my opinion would go down well. Like I said before, I wish him well but its an easy cheap signing. The lads legs have gone.

Hopefully Gary Bowyer has seen enough of him and that isn't the case. Take your point about his age and that there is a risk there.

 

You've just spoilt my evening mentioning Nicky Maynard, but at least the lads found his level now.

His ability to do what?

 

To hold the ball up and bring others in Doyle will feel the benefit of him. Similar accusation could have been made against Stead and he did ok
