Thanks Matty, but you clearly aren't tge man for us if your aspirations meet Simon Weavers/ Harrogate Towns of perpetual survival.

 

Is it not the case that Weavers stays perpetually in post because his father just happens to own the club ? . Flippancy aside he’s done a decent job thus far , but if MF’s aspirations are as you say “ survival” then that speaks volumes. He’s been found wanting , however that won’t stop him doing a job if it’s “backs to the wall football” . Good luck to him going forward.

Tbh I'm totally in the unknown/uninspired with this signing, at first after reading a few uncomplimentary fellow fans views I was like ffs here we go again, but after a day or so of trying to find reasoning on this signing I suddenly had a thought to try justify it, lower league clubs obviously will always struggle for funds, so each season when the manager etc receive their budget maybe they set aside a small portion of it as gambling cash, just like me and you put £1/£2 accas on. So a player released by L1 club who failed at a relegated L2 club is probably financially low risk and maybe worth a punt??

 

On a three year deal, we'll have been able to drive down his weekly wage.
Hopefully, we have more luck than with Jake Young.

 

But I definitely think lower league clubs use a small percentage of their budget on low cost gambles, meanwhile us lot the forums slam the gambles that don't pay off.

Agyei made his Burnley debut at VP albeit a friendly as they were in the prem. Shortly after, he made his league debut at VP on loan to Coventry. Think we beat them but he did score. In both of those games, he looked as though he would go on to better things than he has. Would love him here though.

 

I know, that's why I said probably no chance, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. It would be a big step up from national league to league 1 and a massive one to the championship. He might sign for a side in a higher league and spend the majority of his time on the bench but he'd be guaranteed to start most games with us.

 

How many games is he going to play though?
Does he want 20 games for Derby or 40 games lower down.

Sounds like we need another left back then, unless he will have to cover should Ridealgh be injured or loss of form.

He definitely sounds like he is expecting to be playing in an attacking role though mainly

 

In 352 a mid fielder drops back when the wing back roams upfield. All teams playing 352 use that principle don’t they?

Even though only a friendly, oduor took a bit of stick for his performance at Bury and some already writing him off.

Checked his career stats and can see he has actually played 47 games in the Championship, granted not sure how many of those were sub appearances, nevertheless, must have something about him.

Also didn't realise he was 24 years old, thought he was much younger.

Be interesting to see where MH sees him fit in, left wing back you would imagine?

Wow we really had some dross over the 2007-2010 era didn't we. I think it's fair to say our squad today is better than it was back then, some of our signings were quite literally trialists that were hoping to stay professional. I can't think of a single player that would be close to getting in the starting 11 today - Maybe Thorne or Daley?
