Something I had forgotten was MH saying during the last 10 games that Ridehalgh was playing with an injury and managing the pain, which says a lot about the guy and also his reluctance at Carlisle to step up out of defence to make challenges that he normally would.
hopefully the break will clear things up because he is still a good left back.

i would move Chapman to reasonable, certainly better than the rest in the group of miss and he was a miss at the end of the season when injured.

You can add Harratt and Bola to the miss list. I'd also put East and Derbyshire in there given how rarely they played. I'd put Lewis, Stubbs, Wright and Banks in the hit list, the others as steady but largely mediocre.

Not sure your reasoning putting East in the hit list. Barely played, when he did get minutes, he was sound enough, but the jury is very much out for me and wouldn't be too bothered if he were moved on this summer.

Harsh on Chapman too. I thought he did reasonably well playing out of position more centrally, when he played in his favoured wide position I thought he did well, and we certainly missed him for the final few games after his injury.

5 of those players signed in January, not last summer. You missed out Osadebe, Walker, Harratt and Pereira from the summer signings, 2 of which I'd add to the miss list and two to the 'jury's still out' list, given both Osadebe and Walker's season was hampered by injury.

Because he's not good enough and we can do better. He's an ageing and declining player in a position that we need greater output from.

Abysmal? We went from a 14th place finish to a 6th place finish. I can understand that players like Osadebe or Odusina might not have lived up to expectation but as a squad we improved.

Do I think recruitment could have been better? Of course, there’s always room for improvement, I just don’t think it was as bad as some people make out.

Oh the league was weaker. You only need to look at the teams that went up to understand it was.

Plus Cook scoring 30 goals helped us. Without them goals we would have been bottom half for sure.

We improved last season but it was clear we lacked quality.

Another fan comment from Hartlepool, I know it may not fit the script of him being terrible because people haven’t heard of him but it’s good to get as many opinions as possible. To me this guy isn’t a defender the more I hear about him and it’s probably a reason why his career has gone backwards.

For sure, we lacked that extra bit of quality that would have been enough to see us promoted. However as we did improve I can’t say recruitment was abysmal.

Handing out these three year deals seems a bit odd but time will tell.

Didn’t Foulds have the chance to stay and fight for his place in January, but decided to bail out and join Harrogate? What makes you think he’s up for the fight this time around?

Moxon had barely done much of anything in Scottish League Two for a few years before Carlisle signed him, and he had a great season and got them promoted. 6 goals and 15 assists from midfield. Our fans would have had a meltdown if we signed a 24 year old who's just spent 4 years at Annan Athletic.

You're not going to sign proven young talent, for free, in League Two - it's always going to be a bit of a gamble regarding potential. I don't have an issue with this signing at all.

Some people seem to want pacey, exciting players, full of stamina, with a proven record. Are you going to sign that in League Two? If they've got a proven record they're most likely going to be aging players like Smallwood, Donaldson, Clayton who's legs are long gone - which was one the major complaints this season. People wanted Gilliead signed up just for the fact that he could run, that ticks 1 of the 4 criteria.

If they've got all that and are young players, they'll be signed up pretty quickly to clubs higher up the pyramid.

Absolutely not, as I have already explained my reasons to several others. If you can't be bothered to read previous comments, I certainly ain't got the time to repeat myself to you

No idea about his reasons for joining Harrogate, except for a recollection that Hughes himself said he needed to go out and get regular experience at this level, insinuating it was more the clubs decision rather than Foulds himself? I don't know.

In answer to your second question, I can only assume if it was a case of having to fight for his place, surely a young pro would rather choose the boyhood club he supports, rather than a conference-level team with very few fans or history

The reason for Foulds joining Harrogate was....Bola. As I recollect, Ridehalgh was on his way back after injury and Foulds was in the team. He obviously worked out that Bola was signed to replace him, so decided to look for first team football elsewhere.

'Speakjng to the gaffer, I soon realised his aspirations were the same as mine'

Thanks Matty, but you clearly aren't tge man for us if your aspirations meet Simon Weavers/ Harrogate Towns of perpetual survival.

Is it not the case that Weavers stays perpetually in post because his father just happens to own the club ? . Flippancy aside he’s done a decent job thus far , but if MF’s aspirations are as you say “ survival” then that speaks volumes. He’s been found wanting , however that won’t stop him doing a job if it’s “backs to the wall football” . Good luck to him going forward.
