There's not WAY more to it.
Sarcevic is from the North West which must help but Bolton obviously stumped up enough cash to persuade him whilst we dithere over offering players like Cooke an extra £200 a week.

Maybe people just prefer playing for other managers, buy into the vision more, who you are working for is a big thing.
Graham Alexander and Gary Neville versus McCall and Rhodes, Not a surprise we lost out to Sslford. -
Unless we manage to bring in 5 key players into this group there will be more of what was on display last night. Theres no "ownership" or leadership out there. We only looked anything when an 18 year old Staunton was on the pitch !. We literally looking around waiting for him for direction. Dont get me wrong thats a good thing we might have in Staunton. But come on we shouldnt be relying on him as good as he might be. He should be our bonus. So unless we get these five players that are genuine first team starters ? Only thing that will come from this season will be the fees we will get for Staunton and perhaps Wood ?. But maybe thats enough maybe thats the game now at this club producing a player that might pay a bill come next May ?

Players looking at joining a club apart from money look at 2 things, They look for a manager who has a plan and has a style he imposes on the players, They play one way and practice it in training day in and out and put it in to practice bringing in to the club players that suit that style, McCalls way of changing to suit the opposition means that future players see indecision and lack of vision, Then second they talk to other players at the club or who know or have played for the manager and ask if the manager knows what he is doing and is it a happy club,

The structure and finances of the club, coupled with our current league and past form over three years, however, could be putting players off. -

It really is a top to bottom issue though for me most players could careless about an owner who is sitting in Germany not paying a lot of attention. If they see he is signing cheques, players are being brought in (which he is and they are) then the fact he doesn't turn up for games is really a non issue.
If the money is equal to other offers then what a player will do is ask around other players about the club and ask around other players about the manager. Those two things are then the differentiator.
I dont think at this point we are seen as a good club to come to and Teflon is not seen by young players as a manager that is going to take them anywhere. He has nothing but failures and sackings on his resume in most players living memory. (NOTE I SAID PLAYERS...they are all young men and it is now 3 or 4 years since the losing Wembley Play Off Final and there is nothing on his resume before that at all in England). -
I think alot of it is down to Bradford being a Covid riddled dump, players will take one look in the area where the ground is and think fk that. Yes I know players won't live there but it will still count when weighing up options.
Add that to the basket case recent history and as a player with any ambition your coming nowhere near VP unless your on opposing side. -

So in the meantime what he could do is put in place a management team that takes the club forward. This is the point where his hand off approach has and will cost him money. He gave JR carte blanche on the management appointment after Bowyer and he brought Teflon back. I haven't seen more than a handful of contributions that say this was the best appointment for the club on a footballing level. Many like it because he is who he is. Some like it because they want him to succeed but most will agree that if we were hard headed Teflon would have been pretty low down on the list of potential appointments.
Start at the bottom. Get that bit right and the bit at the top becomes an irrelevance. -
So I'd suggest Julian thought on similar lines when he brought McCall back we were still around a play off place and if anyone could erase the doom and gloom McGod could, it's not that difficult to see the other side of the arguement. -
Wether Rupp is engaged or not, if he is supplying the wherewithal then the trying to point the finger at him is simply trying to deflect from the deficiencies at the manager position.
