Made hardwork of that but thought French yet again was superb sutton is that tigerish midfielder we required. Defo a lack of pace is a worry but hopefully that will be addressed.

 

Hope we get another right sided defensive player so that Sutton can play in the middle of the park where he'll hopefully have a good impact.

 

Played some decent football at times but so badly need a striker and our defence is so shaky. Having said that we did have two regular centre backs missing. Pleased with French and Sutton and much as Novak misses a few he’s now scored four this season.

I agree, but I do think we don’t get enough credit at times. 3 awful sides we have played supposedly who have had good results against other teams. Teams can make sides look poor

 

Thought generally it was a good performance. Start of the second half until we scored was a bit scrappy but we controlled the game for the most part.

Defence was ok, although not overly tested until the latter stages where they were shaky. Silly error from wood for the goal, just needs to clear it.

Thought Watt and Clarke were excellent, best players on the pitch by far.

Guthrie offered absolutely nothing. Novak's general play was appaling but he popped up with two good goals, so I can't complain too much. Still desperately need that striker with some pace, because the lack of mobility up there is holding us back.

Overall much improved, but still work to do.

 

Completely agree. A couple of reasonably decent signings and we will have a strong first 11 barring injuries.

 

And Clarke took one for the team late on with that deliberate foul.

 

It is what good strikers do, The only time you really notice them making a contribution to the game is when they score

 

Happy with the result today, a couple of things to say though.
Stuart, sort that feckin defending out of set pieces, some of it was like a comedy show. Everyone needs to know their jobs but to be fair the youngsters have a bit to learn.
Up front, when we create the chances we need to be sharper and more ruthless, we can’t rely on the opposition gifting us openings to score goals. Guthrie for me today was a passenger for most of the game, but to be fair he lacks confidence and only games and goals can give him that.

 

Good win and important to get the 3 points.

Guthrie can have no complaints if he’s playing rock, paper, scissors on the bench with Donaldson this season. Cooke has yet to convince me because he’s just not bringing anything to the side. It’s no coincidence Stuart either drops him or brings him off. Could be vulnerable to Evans if he doesn’t pick up. I’m yet to see anything from him and that includes last season.

 

Also good to come from behind to win, something that's been non existent in the last few years. Promising signs.

 

But of pace up top in Hiwula or a decent forward and things in the squad might look different. However, if we don't then this squad will struggle.

 

Bolton won't be any near where they are come the end of the season, its been 3 games. We were 4th at the start of October in 2006 and look what happened after that. Early days and the table at this point doesn't mean much, happy with a win and hopefully we get a pacey striker in to play alongside Novak because Guthrie isn't that kind of player.

 

I can’t make my mind up who talks the most unintelligible drivel , Andy K. or Clinton Morrison on Sky.

 

I'm not sure about them yet, but we finished 9th last season and for me, that was slightly above what we should have expected given the rebuild - well Bolton's rebuild is an even more mammoth task. I'd be impressed if they finished above 9th.
