Good tackle from Wood at the end in a 2 vs 1 situation. Not the first time this season he's made a crucial last ditch tackle.

O'Donnell also continues to impress. He's made some class saves this season that have kept us in games.

What struck me is the difference in energy levels between the first and second half. I'd love to see them start a match at the tempo they started the second half.

 

Good run of games coming up with Walsall, Scunny and Carlisle all having poor starts to the season.

 

Yes we have to play at that tempo as we're consistently playing the other team and the officials.

We have to assume we are going to get short changed over and over.

 

Don’t fully agree except the tempo, Vaughan scores and Donaldson makes a simple clearance think things would have been much more comfortable and nobody would have batted an eye lid over the first half. Our tempo did disappear after their goal though I’ll agree it was a poor last 20 of the first half, over than that dominated imo.

 

With our reputation for being the team that turns other teams seasons around, I can't saying I'm looking forward to those games!

 

I actually thought today was the best I have seen us play this season. For the first half the tempo was slow but we put some decent crosses in, Northampton scored with their only chance. The second half our tempo was much better and we played football the way it is supposed to be played at VP, ramping up the pressure in the second half whilst we are shooting towards the Kop and getting the ball out wide. I thought we deserved our win today, I'm fed up of teams coming to VP and parking the bus with spoiling tactics.

Tempo is not always easy to dictate. Away teams time waste, go down easily for entirely that reason to make it stop start

 

Make no mistake about it we were poor overall today.

Never want to see Devine and Palmer start together in midfield again.

The subs changed the game for sure today

 

I agree, like I said we were fine until their goal. Then our heads dropped and their antics began. Second half a lot better. Maybe it’s just because we’ve been served up so much crap recently, but I enjoyed that game and always felt we were gunna win and we’re the far better team.

 

First half was pretty awful from both sides, no quality whatsoever.

Second half though was much better and needs to be the minimum we expect now. I have to say though Keith Curle fecked it himself with his subs, they put them under more pressure.

Back four were generally solid, BRE won everything again although I think it was his man for the goal we conceded. What a challenge that was from wood at the end too, as good as a goal.

Midfield was useless until devine went off. Cooke was much better and we got some control in there finally. Surely he starts next week?

Saw glimpses from Connolly, particularly in the 2nd half, that he'll be a good addition. Ismail was great when he came on and was wrongly sent off. Pritchard is a different type of winger to those two, not blessed with the most pace or tricks but delivers a good ball and gives us some balance.

Front two didn't have their best games, too many long balls into them although even their presence in the box causes so much panic when the ball is out wide. And they got feck all off another diabolical ref.

Much improved today (finally), still need to be better.

 

Thankfully it was only ifs and buts in the end, but I always felt comfortable. Comparing the first 25 minutes from today and Oldham I thought we were far better today, just the chances didn’t go our way.
